About the Role:

The Physical Education (P.E.) Teacher plays a vital role in fostering the physical development, health, and well-being of students across various age groups. This position is responsible for designing and implementing comprehensive physical education programs that promote fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The P.E. Teacher will create a safe and environment where students are encouraged to develop motor skills, understand the importance of physical activity, and build lifelong healthy habits. Collaboration with other educators and communication with parents are essential to support student progress and address individual needs.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or a related field.
  • Valid state teaching certification/license for Physical Education.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of physical education curriculum and instructional strategies.
  • Experience working with children or adolescents in an educational or recreational setting.
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, or related discipline.
  • Certification in CPR, First Aid, and AED.
  • Experience coaching school sports teams or leading extracurricular physical activities.
  • Professional development in current fitness trends and health education.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver engaging physical education lessons aligned with state and national standards.
  • Assess student performance and progress in physical fitness, motor skills, and sports knowledge.
  • Create a safe and supportive environment that encourages participation.
  • Organize and supervise extracurricular sports activities, events, and competitions.
  • Collaborate with school staff and parents to support student health and wellness goals.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, assessments, and equipment inventory.
  • Promote positive attitudes toward physical activity and healthy lifestyle choices among students.


Skills:

The P.E. Teacher utilizes instructional skills daily to design and deliver lessons that engage students of varying abilities and interests. Communication skills are essential for effectively motivating students, collaborating with colleagues, and interacting with parents to support student development. Organizational skills are applied in planning lessons, managing equipment, and coordinating events or sports activities. The ability to assess and provide constructive feedback helps students improve their physical skills and understand health concepts.
