We are seeking a skilled, efficient, and compassionate Orthopedic Technologist to join our clinical team and work directly alongside our providers.
Position Summary
As an Ortho Tech, you will play a vital role in both patient care and clinic workflow. You will be responsible for applying and removing casts, splints, and braces, managing durable medical equipment (DME), assisting with minor clinical procedures, and ensuring our providers have everything they need to deliver seamless care.
Key Responsibilities
- Casting & Splinting: Expertly apply, adjust, and remove specialized orthopedic casts, splints, and traction devices as directed by providers.
- DME Management: Fit patients for custom and off-the-shelf Durable Medical Equipment (braces, boots, crutches), provide thorough patient education on proper usage, and ensure accurate clinical documentation for dispensing.
- Provider Assistance: Assist providers with in-office procedures, including joint aspirations, injections (including preparing setups for fluoro-guided or ultrasound-guided injections), and sterile field setups.
- Patient Care & Education: Remove sutures/staples, dress wounds, and educate patients/families regarding cast care, signs of complications, and post-procedure instructions.
- Clinic Workflow: Efficiently room patients, gather medical histories, document in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system, and maintain clean, fully stocked exam and casting rooms.
Qualifications & Skills
- Certification: Certification by the National Board for Certification of Orthopaedic Technologists (NBCOT) or Registered Orthopaedic Technologist (ROT) preferred, or equivalent clinical experience.
- Experience: Minimum of 1–2 years of experience as an Ortho Tech, preferably within a fast-paced private orthopedic or sports medicine practice.
- Technical Skills: Deep knowledge of musculoskeletal anatomy, specialized casting/splinting materials, and proper wound care techniques.
- Attributes: Strong communication skills, excellent bedside manner, a collaborative team-player mindset, and the ability to multitask in an active clinic environment.
