Uppingham School, founded in 1584, is a leading co educational independent boarding school in the UK with a history of nearly 500 years. In academic year 2026-2027, Uppingham will open a campus in Hung Yen in conjunction with our partners Viet Capital Education. This milestone marks the first expansion of the Uppingham brand into Asia, setting a new benchmark for world class holistic education in Vietnam. Uppingham Hung Yen, situated on an already constructed 4.7 hectares (ha) site in Ecopark and with all the facilities one would expect from a world class school, will be the second premium international school for Uppingham. Only 25 minutes’ drive from downtown Hanoi, Uppingham Hung Yen is part of the Ecopark development, a 500 ha luxury environment combining urban living with natural surroundings providing a healthy and green lifestyle in contact with nature. Since the construction commencement in 2019, Ecopark has since become a vibrant urban area with nearly 20,000 residents, promising to reach 110,000 residents in 2030.

About The Project
Developed in collaboration with Viet Capital Education (VCE), Uppingham Hung Yen
(UHY), situated in the tranquil Ecopark on the outskirts of Hanoi, will offer its pupils a truly international education. Based on the values and ethos of Uppingham School, Uppingham Hung Yen will also embrace Vietnam’s rich history and culture to bring a school of exceptional quality to meet the increasing demands of aspiring Vietnamese and expat families. Initially opening for junior school year groups, Uppingham Hung Yen will eventually educate children from 3 to 18. The school will boast state of the art teaching
and sports facilities and will rank amongst the largest K-12 educational projects in Vietnam. Staff at Uppingham Hung Yen will be offered outstanding accommodation and access to the many facilities offered to residents in the area.

Position Title: Operations Manager
Reports to: CEO of Uppingham School Vietnam – Hung Yen JSC

Job Purpose
As the Operations Manager of our prestigious Uppingham School Vietnam – Hung Yen, you will play a pivotal leadership role in ensuring the smooth, efficient, safe, and compliant day to day operations of the school. You will oversee all non-academic functions, enabling the academic leadership team to focus on delivering high quality international education. This position requires strong organizational skills, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to manage diverse teams in a multicultural, bilingual environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Facilities & Maintenance Management
- Oversee the maintenance, repair, and improvement of school buildings, grounds, classrooms, sports facilities, and equipment.
- Manage renovation projects, capital expenditures, and preventive maintenance programs.
- Ensure the campus remains clean, safe, and aesthetic.
- Coordinate with external contractors and service providers (catering, cleaning, landscaping, security etc.)
2. Health, Safety & Compliance
- Develop and implement health, safety, and emergency procedures in compliance with Vietnamese regulations and international school standards.
- Conduct regular risk assessments, fire drills, and safety audits.
- Ensure compliance with Vietnamese education laws, labor laws, fire safety, food hygiene, and international accreditation requirements.
- Manage school insurance policies and claims.
3. Vendor Management:
- Oversee key school’s vendors including catering service, cleaning service, security service, school bus/transportation services.
- Monitor catering service’s compliance with regulation regarding food safety, input raw material requirements, staff qualities and quantities as per service agreement.
- Plan and coordinate school bus/transportation and other staff’s pickup and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Control cleaning service and security services to ensure safeguarding, service’s quality.
4. Procurement & Vendor Management
- Support procurement to purchase school supplies, uniforms, textbooks, furniture, and other operational items according to Group’s Procurement Policy.
- Negotiate contracts with local suppliers and service providers to achieve cost efficiency and quality except services provided by group procurement.
- Maintain inventory control and asset management systems.
5. Administrative & Operational Support
- Supervise administrative staff, including reception, office support, IT support, and auxiliary services.
- Oversee daily school operations, including scheduling of events, room bookings, and coordination with academic departments.
- Support the admissions process with operational coordination (tours, document handling).
- Manage school events, extracurricular activities, and summer programs from an operational perspective.
6. Operational Procedure:
- Develop all SOPs related to daily operation of the campus.
- Deploy and monitor the SOPs’ compliance.
- Proposed and make necessary amendment to current SOPs when needed.
7. Budget & Financial Oversight
- Prepare and manage the operations budget in collaboration with the Group’s Finance Department.
- Monitor expenditures, control costs, and report on operational performance.
- Contribute to annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
8. Human Resources & Team Leadership
- Recruit, train, and supervise non-teaching staff (maintenance, security, cleaners, drivers, administrative assistants).
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and professional work environment.
- Manage day-to-day administration issues at the office/school campus.
9. Stakeholder & Community Engagement
- Serve as a key point of contact for parents, vendors, and local authorities on operational matters.
- Manage operational complaints and ensure stakeholder satisfaction.
- Support the school leadership in maintaining strong relationships with the local community and authorities.
10. Support Headmaster
- Serve as a key support personal for Headmaster during interaction with local authorities, local compliant when needed.
- Ensure Headmaster familiar with local code and regulation.
- Connect Headmaster with other operation’s department.
