Position Summary:

The Head Football Coach is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the Moravia 8-man football program. This includes fostering student-athlete development, promoting sportsmanship, and building a competitive program that reflects the values of the school and community.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, and supervise all aspects of the 8-man football program (grades 9–12), including offseason, preseason, and in-season activities.

  • Develop and implement practice plans, game strategies, and player development systems specific to 8-man football.

  • Promote academic success, character development, and positive behavior among student-athletes.

  • Ensure compliance with all IHSAA, district, and school policies and regulations.

  • Supervise and evaluate assistant coaches; provide leadership and professional development.

  • Coordinate scheduling, transportation, equipment, and facility use in collaboration with the Activities Director.

  • Maintain accurate records, including eligibility, participation, and program inventory.

  • Foster strong communication with players, parents, staff, and the community.

  • Promote the football program through youth engagement, camps, and community outreach.

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants, including proper training in equipment use and concussion protocols.


Qualifications:

  • Valid Iowa coaching authorization or teaching license with coaching endorsement.

  • Knowledge of and experience with 8-man football strategies and program development preferred.

  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and community stakeholders.

Working Conditions:

  • Evening and weekend hours required during the season and offseason activities.
