We are seeking an experienced, dependable, and detail-oriented Medical Billing & Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our busy and well-established Physiatry and Pain Management practice. What You’ll Do
As a key member of our billing team, you will be responsible for managing accounts receivable activities and ensuring timely reimbursement from insurance carriers and patients. Duties include:
- Collecting patient co-pays, deductibles, and coinsurance balances over the phone
- Preparing and submitting accurate claims electronically and via paper to insurance carriers
- Managing follow-up on outstanding accounts receivable for all payer types, including self-pay accounts
- Investigating and resolving claim denials and payment discrepancies
- Processing and posting insurance and patient payments, including ERAs
- Reading and interpreting Explanation of Benefits (EOBs)
- Writing appeals and supporting documentation for denied claims
- Answering billing-related questions from patients and insurance companies
- Identifying and resolving patient billing concerns in a professional and compassionate manner
- Preparing, reviewing, and distributing patient statements
- Communicating with insurance carriers, patients, and healthcare facilities to maximize reimbursement and resolve account issues
- Verifying insurance benefits and eligibility
- Maintaining accurate records within the electronic medical record (EMR) system
- Collaborating closely with the billing team to achieve departmental goals and maintain efficient workflows
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of medical billing experience
- Strong knowledge of medical billing, accounts receivable, and insurance claim processing
- Experience reading EOBs and posting ERAs
- Experience with appeals, collections, denial management, and A/R follow-up
- Knowledge of ICD-10 coding preferred
- Familiarity with EMR systems
- Excellent telephone, communication, and customer service skills
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
Compensation
$18.00 – $23.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
