Leadership and Growth Coach, Alpha – $150,000/year USD Jobs in Santa Monica, CA at Crossover

Title: Leadership and Growth Coach, Alpha – $150,000/year USD

Company: Crossover

Location: Santa Monica, CA

You understand that refusing to lower expectations is the most compassionate act. You've succeeded, competed, or performed at a level that separates you from the majority: professional-level sports, graduation with honors from an elite institution, acceptance into a highly competitive organization, or a company you launched and grew. Now imagine channeling that drive into a space where K-12 students gain access to someone with your credentials—someone willing to demand standards they've never experienced before. If raising the bar to elite levels feels unkind, this isn't for you.

Alpha leverages AI-driven 1-on-1 instruction to help students complete core academics in roughly two hours daily. The remaining hours are dedicated to life skills, self-directed projects, and meaningful development. At Alpha's most rigorous campuses, students require more than oversight. They need a credible mentor whose personal track record defines excellence: someone capable of setting expectations, reading the environment, and guiding them through obstacles, distractions, and internal doubt.

You won't be teaching. The AI manages academic delivery. Your role is to inspire, mentor, and enforce the same rigorous standards you've lived by. Forty percent of your time involves direct 1-on-1 and small-group sessions that identify obstacles and establish challenging targets. Another forty percent is spent facilitating structured life-skills modules designed for genuine mastery, not engagement metrics. The final twenty percent is dedicated to morning rituals that set a high-performance culture where mediocrity has no place.

The trajectory is about deepening impact, not advancing into management. You begin by mastering Alpha's approach and earning student trust. Within months, you become the person students allow to challenge them beyond their perceived limits. The payoff isn't a title. It's continuity with the same cohort, year over year, as they mature with your guidance. It's witnessing a student progress from avoiding eye contact in September to confidently addressing a room of adults by May.

This position remains focused on students. They are the mission, not a career stepping stone. If you're leaving your current role for the work itself, not the résumé line, apply now.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Conducting 1-on-1 and small-group mentoring sessions leveraging Coachbot analytics and student performance data to identify barriers, establish ambitious targets, and ensure accountability
  • Facilitating structured life-skills modules designed for mastery, drawing on credible narratives from your own high-achievement background, and measuring mastery via Alpha's Test2Pass framework
  • Establishing cultural expectations each morning through intentional kickoffs that reinforce high-performance norms across campus
  • Monitoring student development in real time and refining coaching tactics based on evidence, not assumptions
  • Cultivating trusted relationships with students and families through consistent high standards and documented growth plans

What You Won’t Be Doing

  • Delivering lessons, creating curricula, or evaluating assignments — Alpha's AI-powered system manages instruction; your focus is motivation
  • Presenting to large classrooms of 30 students (your work centers on intensive, small-group mentorship, not mass instruction)
  • Supervising other personnel or advancing through an administrative career path (this role prioritizes direct student outcomes, not organizational promotion)
  • Attending staff meetings or managing institutional red tape (your schedule stays centered on student interaction)
  • Compromising standards to satisfy performance indicators (if a student achieves 99%, your task is to uncover what prevented 100%)
