About the Role
The Frieze Data team plays a central role in powering insight, operations, and decision-making across a dynamic and globally recognised art business. As a Junior Data Engineer, you’ll join a collaborative and evolving team responsible for building, maintaining, and enhancing a sophisticated data ecosystem that supports a wide range of stakeholders and data sources.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a fast-moving environment where curiosity, technical capability, and a hands-on mindset are highly valued. You’ll work closely with experienced data professionals to develop and optimise data pipelines, improve data quality, and help create scalable, reliable solutions that enable seamless access to enriched and well-structured data.
Frieze operates within a unique and complex landscape, with diverse data inputs spanning the art world and beyond. This role offers exposure to that complexity, alongside the chance to grow your technical skills while taking ownership of meaningful projects. While you’ll collaborate with stakeholders across the business, your primary focus will be on strengthening the foundations of our data infrastructure and contributing to a team culture that prioritises problem-solving, innovation, and continuous improvement.
We’re looking for someone who is detail-oriented, proactive, and eager to learn – someone who isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves and contribute to a space where processes are continuously evolving and the impact of your work is visible.
This is a full-time role, and candidates must be able to work flexibly at our London office. You’ll be part of a hybrid team that values both collaboration and flexibility.

- You take ownership of improving existing processes. This means identifying inefficiencies, optimising performance, and helping reduce processing times across pipelines and scripts.
- You support the evolution of Frieze’s data ecosystem by helping design and deliver scalable data solutions that make complex datasets easier to ingest, transform, and use.
- You demonstrate curiosity and initiative by learning quickly, asking the right questions, and actively contributing to team problem-solving in a fast-evolving environment.
- You collaborate effectively within the data team and, where needed, with stakeholders to deliver solutions that are robust, maintainable, and aligned with business needs.
What You'll Own
- Supporting and maintaining Python-based ETL processes, including monitoring scheduled jobs, identifying failures, and resolving data flow issues efficiently.
- Assisting in the development and optimisation of data pipelines, with a focus on performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Helping transform manual or repetitive processes into automated workflows to improve data integrity and reduce operational overhead.
- Working with a variety of data formats (e.g. CSV, JSON, XML, XLSX) across ingestion, transformation, and downstream use cases.
- Contributing to pipeline maintenance, issue resolution, and ongoing improvements to ensure stable and high-quality data delivery.
- Supporting integration with APIs and other external data sources as part of ETL workflows.
