Responsibilities
- Enforce game rules accurately and consistently to maintain fair play during high school basketball matches
- Make quick, confident decisions on game calls such as fouls, violations, and scoring plays
- Communicate clearly with coaches, players, and fellow officials to ensure smooth game flow
- Manage on-court conflicts or disputes with professionalism and tact, promoting sportsmanship at all times
- Prepare for each game by reviewing rules and understanding team strategies
- Complete game reports and record relevant incidents or rule violations as needed
- Uphold safety standards and ensure all participants adhere to league guidelines throughout the game
Skills
- Strong knowledge of basketball rules and gameplay mechanics
- Experience or background in sports coaching or playing basketball is highly desirable
- Excellent conflict management skills to handle disputes calmly and effectively
- Clear communication skills for interacting with players, coaches, officials, and spectators
- Ability to work well under pressure in fast-paced environments
- Experience working with children or adolescents to foster positive relationships and mentorship
- Reliable attendance record with a professional attitude towards punctuality and preparedness
