Head Wrestling Coach

Job Summary
Perry Co Central High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our athletic department as a Head Wrestling Coach. This stipend position offers a unique opportunity to lead and develop our wrestling program, fostering a positive and competitive environment for student-athletes. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a thorough understanding of wrestling techniques, and a commitment to promoting sportsmanship and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement training programs that enhance the skills and performance of student-athletes.
• Organize and conduct daily practices, ensuring a safe and productive environment.
• Prepare the wrestling team for competitions, including scheduling matches and tournaments.
• Monitor and evaluate athletes’ performance, providing constructive feedback and mentorship.
• Collaborate with other coaches and athletic staff to promote a cohesive sports program.
• Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and school administration regarding team policies, schedules, and expectations.
• Foster a culture of respect, discipline, and hard work among team members.
• Ensure compliance with all school and athletic association regulations and guidelines.
• Maintain accurate records of athlete participation, performance, and academic eligibility.
• Assist in fundraising and community outreach efforts to support the wrestling program.

Requirements

• Previous coaching experience in wrestling at the high school level or higher preferred.
• Strong knowledge of wrestling techniques, rules, and strategies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with athletes, parents, and staff.
• Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes to achieve their personal and team goals.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive team culture.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
• Must pass a background check and comply with school district policies.
• Flexible schedule to accommodate practice and competition times, including evenings and weekends.
