HEAD WOMEN’S BASKETBALL COACH Jobs in Miami Gardens at Florida Memorial University

The Head Women’s Basketball Coach provides visionary leadership, strategic direction, and administrative oversight for Florida Memorial University’s women’s basketball program. The Head Coach is responsible for building and sustaining a championship-caliber program that reflects the University’s rich tradition of competitive excellence, academic achievement, integrity, and student-athlete development.
This position leads all aspects of the program including recruiting, coaching, academic oversight, compliance, staff supervision, budgeting, fundraising, revenue generating activities, and community engagement while fostering a culture of discipline, accountability, and success.

Essential Functions:
  • Build, lead, and sustain a championship-caliber program that competes for conference titles and national postseason opportunities.
  • Plan, organize, and conduct all practices, competitions, and training sessions.
  • Develop and implement effective game strategies and performance systems.
  • Establish a culture rooted in discipline, accountability, sportsmanship, and competitive excellence.
  • Implement comprehensive player development programs to enhance athletic performance, basketball IQ, and leadership skills.
  • Develop and execute a strategic recruiting plan to attract high-character, academically prepared, and athletically talented student-athletes.
  • Recruit locally, nationally, and internationally in alignment with institutional standards and governing regulations.
  • Manage roster composition, retention, and student-athlete transitions.
  • Evaluate prospective student-athletes for academic fit, character, and competitive potential.
  • Promote academic achievement, retention, and timely graduation of student-athletes.
  • Monitor academic progress and enforce accountability standards.
  • Support life-skills development, leadership growth, and career readiness.
  • Prepare student-athletes for professional opportunities and success beyond athletics.
  • Ensure full compliance with NAIA, conference, and institutional rules and regulations.
  • Promote ethical conduct and institutional control within all program activities.
  • Participate in rules education and compliance monitoring processes.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation as required by governing bodies.
  • Recruit, supervise, mentor, and evaluate assistant coaches and support staff.
  • Foster a collaborative, professional, and accountable staff environment.
  • Manage program operations including scheduling, travel, equipment, and logistics.
  • Oversee program budget and ensure responsible fiscal management.
  • Develop and lead fundraising initiatives and revenue generating activities to support program enhancement and student-athlete development.
  • Organize and operate youth camps, clinics, and summer programs to promote community engagement and program visibility.
  • Support alumni relations and donor engagement efforts.
  • Promote the program through outreach activities, speaking engagements, and community partnerships.
  • Enhance program visibility through positive media relations and public appearances.
  • Represent Florida Memorial University with professionalism and integrity at all times.
  • Coordinate scheduling with the Athletic Director and conference office.
  • Collaborate with athletics administration, academic services, sports medicine, and strength & conditioning staff.
  • Support departmental initiatives, special events, and student-athlete success programming.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Demonstrated leadership and program-building ability.
  • Advanced knowledge of women’s basketball strategy, training, and player development.
  • Strong recruiting and talent evaluation skills.
  • Thorough understanding of NAIA or NCAA compliance regulations.
  • Ability to mentor, motivate, and develop student-athletes.
  • Strong organizational, administrative, and budget management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student-athlete welfare.
  • Ability to foster a positive, disciplined, and accountable team culture.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred (Sports Administration, Education, Business, or related field).
  • Minimum three (3) years of collegiate coaching experience.
  • Demonstrated success in recruiting and developing student-athletes.
  • Proven ability to support academic success and student-athlete retention.
  • Evening, weekend, and holiday work required.
  • Travel required for recruiting, competitions, and postseason play.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Collegiate head coaching experience.
  • Experience at NCAA Division I, II, or nationally competitive NAIA programs.
  • Proven record of conference championships, postseason appearances, or national rankings.
  • Experience managing budgets, staff, and program operations.
  • Demonstrated commitment to academic excellence and student-athlete development.
