Head Varsity Girls Basketball Coach 2026-27

Mission: To assist Christian parents by helping equip students to embrace Biblical truth, strive for academic excellence, and model Christ-like leadership to influence their homes, churches, and communities for Christ.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• • Total responsibility for the development and advancement of the PCA girls’ basketball program on every level according to the principles and policies of the school
  • Responsible for the positive development of players in academics, athleticism, basketball skills, and in their walk with Christ
  • Responsible for the stewardship of facilities and allocated budget
  • Expected to identify and recruit coaches into the basketball program who love Christ and kids, and have a passion for basketball
  • Mentor and train all basketball coaches on a unified system that prepares players on all levels to fill their roles in the system to the best of their abilities
  • Expected to be actively involved in and integrated into the ministry opportunities of the school such as mission trips, service projects, and advisory groups

Professional Qualifications:

• Exhibit a passion for Christian Education and basketball
• Experience as a head coach or top assistant in an established and successful basketball program on the high school level or above
• Should be an exceptional and proven teacher of the game of basketball and exceptional coach of young people
• Should be able to intentionally integrate spiritual development opportunities into the program and also be able to use unexpected opportunities to strengthen the walk of his players
• Experience in leading, motivating, and inspiring people
• Strong organizational and communication skills required
• Strong love for young people with the ability to inspire and build leadership
• Experience in building and maintaining a championship caliber basketball program through multiple areas (off-season and in-season, summer programs, youth leagues, team camps, middle school, sub-varsity, and varsity)
• Experience in building relationships with parents that foster positive involvement and followership
• Experience in coordinating booster clubs and fund raising to support the basketball program

Personal Qualifications:

• Must have an authentic and growing relationship with Jesus Christ
• Their faith should be evidenced by a strong, clear personal testimony and a lifestyle that reflects this relationship
• Should have a clear and positive vision of the future of PCA basketball, a clear plan to reach those goals, and be able to cast that vision to others
• Should be able to lead and work in a team environment by motivating and training coaches on own staff and working together with coaches from other sports and the school staff outside the area of athletics
• Prestonwood Baptist Church member preferred.

Physical and Mental Requirements and Work Environment

• Works in a highly stressful environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines and a varied and diverse array of contacts
• Standing and walking for sustained periods of time
• Depending on the sport and the season of the year; may work outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold
• Tasks involve the ability to exert heavy physical lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials weighing 20 to 50 pounds
