About the Role
As the Head of Sports Science, you will spearhead the development, integration, and execution of our advanced sports science framework to optimize athlete performance, health, and long-term development. Serving as our central technical authority, you will embed scientific methodologies, performance analytics, and evidence-based interventions directly into the athlete training environment. Working in close collaboration with our coaching, medical, and analytics teams, your leadership will translate applied research into measurable athlete outcomes and ensure adherence to global best practices.
Duties & Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Framework Development
- Define and steer the organization’s comprehensive Sports Science strategy, establishing evidence-based protocols aligned with international standards.
- Integrate core technical domains seamlessly across programmes, including exercise physiology, biomechanics, strength & conditioning, and recovery science.
- Drive the standardization of scientific methodologies and ensure strict adherence to ethical guidelines, quality benchmarks, and competition readiness.
Athlete Monitoring, Analytics & Applied Science
- Design and deploy robust systems for athlete load monitoring, performance testing, injury risk assessment, and return-to-play protocols.
- Develop data-driven performance frameworks, utilizing advanced dashboards/athlete management systems to track athlete progression, training efficiency, and fatigue metrics.
- Partner closely with coaching staff to translate analytical insights into actionable, individualized training and recovery cycles that ensure peak competition readiness.
- Research, Innovation & Infrastructure
- Lead applied sports science research projects, staying at the forefront of international advancements and integrating the latest technologies.
- Contextualize technology and scientific methodologies for the Indian population of elite and grassroot athletes
- Oversee the continuous optimization of Sports Science Labs and testing facilities, including the recommendation and utilization of the existing and new cutting-edge equipment.
- Cultivate collaborative partnerships with premier research institutions and domain experts.
Capacity Building & Institutional Support
- Mentor and lead a multidisciplinary team of sports scientists, performance analysts, and physiotherapists and psychologist, fostering a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and continuous learning.
- Provide high-level technical expertise to government projects, sports authorities, federations, and academies to support the execution of scientifically backed programmes.
- Undertake additional strategic responsibilities as assigned by Management to align with evolving organizational priorities.
Skills, Requirements & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Education: Master’s degree in Sports Science, Exercise Physiology, Biomechanics, or a closely related field. A PhD or advanced specialization is highly preferred; an MBA is an asset.
- Experience: 10 to 15 years of extensive professional experience within elite sports environments, high-performance academies, federations, or athlete performance programmes.
- Background: Proven track record of working directly with competitive or elite athletes.
- Mobility: Willingness to travel across the country as dictated by athlete and programmatic requirements.

- Deep-rooted technical mastery in applied performance methodologies, athlete physiology, biomechanics, and recovery science.
- Exceptional analytical acumen with demonstrable experience in data-driven performance monitoring and systems implementation.
- Outstanding ability to translate complex scientific data into practical, actionable training outcomes.
- Exceptional collaborative capabilities, adept at aligning interdisciplinary teams (coaching, medical, and performance analytics).
