Job Summary

Head Softball Coach position at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. This is a full‑time, 12‑month, non‑faculty role. The coach will manage and direct the softball program, including training, competition, fundraising, community service, scheduling, equipment inventory, travel arrangements, rules compliance with ABAC, SSAC and NAIA, recruiting, communication with stakeholders, and other duties as assigned.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and direct the softball program, including training (practice, weightlifting, conditioning).
  • Conduct team competitions and coordinate schedules.
  • Fundraise and promote community engagement.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of softball equipment and uniforms.
  • Coordinate travel arrangements.
  • Adhere to all rules and regulations set by the team, institution, and GCAA Conference.
  • Complete assigned administrative duties.
  • Recruit prospective student‑athletes—including calling high school and junior college players and evaluating talent.
  • Collaborate with athletics department personnel, attend meetings, and represent ABAC professionally.
  • Coordinate facility needs for visiting teams.
  • Perform duties requested by the Athletic Director.
  • Comply with ABAC, SSAC and NAIA rules and regulations.
  • Support the student‑athlete concept and demonstrate concern for health, safety, and welfare.

Qualifications / Education

  • First Aid and CPR Certification required within one month after hire.
  • Prior collegiate coaching or playing experience preferred, familiarity with SSAC and NAIA rules and regulations preferred.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree preferred.
