SAS Sport is a leading New Zealand sportswear brand, designing high-performance custom teamwear for clubs, schools, and sporting organisations across New Zealand and Australia.
We are seeking an experienced Head of Teamwear Design to lead our Sri Lankan design team. This is an exciting opportunity to join SAS Sport, a subsidiary of a New Zealand-owned company, and play a key role in designing world-class sports apparel.
THE ROLE
Lead our Teamwear Design Department and drive the creative direction of our collections.
You will evaluate every garment from both a design and production perspective—ensuring outstanding graphics, fit, construction, fabric selection, sublimation quality, and production readiness.
Working closely with pattern makers and the production team, you will ensure every garment meets the highest standards of quality and performance.
This role also offers opportunities to travel to New Zealand to gain first-hand insight into our customers, sporting culture, and market trends.
YOU BRING
Strong understanding of New Zealand and Australian teamwear markets, including rugby, cricket, football, basketball, netball, and school sports.
Minimum 5 years' experience in teamwear or sublimation apparel design.
Excellent knowledge of sublimation printing, garment construction, fabric performance, and production processes.
Proven experience leading and mentoring a design team.
Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator.
CorelDRAW experience is an advantage.
Adobe Photoshop and InDesign experience will be beneficial.
Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
Passion for sport, creativity, and innovation.
YOU WILL
Lead and mentor the Teamwear Design Department.
Design innovative custom teamwear collections across multiple sporting codes.
Collaborate with pattern makers and production teams to ensure correct fit, functionality, and quality.
Ensure every design is brand-consistent and production-ready.
Drive continuous improvement in design standards and creative excellence.
