Overview
Head of Growth & Ops (Founding Team) Jobs in WP. Kuala Lumpur, Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia at CourtIQ
Title: Head of Growth & Ops (Founding Team)
Company: CourtIQ
Location: WP. Kuala Lumpur, Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
About CourtIQ
CourtIQ is building the AI layer for amateur sports.
Every week, millions of players record matches but receive little meaningful analysis from that footage. We're changing that through computer vision, sports analytics, and AI-powered performance insights.
We've validated demand with players across Malaysia and Singapore, secured strategic sports partners, and are backed by Jati Growth and Cradle Fund as we build the technology and distribution foundation to scale.
We're looking for a Head of Growth & Ops to help bring CourtIQ into the hands of players, courts, academies, leagues, and sports communities.
The Role
This is not a traditional corporate sales role.
This is a high-ownership, people-facing business and operations role.
Think of it as an early-stage startup business lead role — combining:
- Partnerships
- Business development
- Field operations
- Community building
- Growth
You'll work directly with the founders to grow CourtIQ's presence on the ground by building relationships with sports venues, academies, coaches, league organisers, players, and community leaders across Malaysia and Singapore.
You'll also help make sure our partnerships, pilots, events, and venue rollouts actually run smoothly in the real world — coordinating people, partners, timelines, setup requirements, feedback loops, and follow-ups.
As one of CourtIQ's earliest hires, you'll have significant ownership over:
- How we grow
- How we build and maintain partnerships
- How we launch CourtIQ in new venues and communities
- How we turn early interest into repeatable operations
For the right person, this role can evolve into a broader senior leadership role as the company scales.
What You'll Work On
- Build relationships with sports venues, academies, leagues, coaches, and community organisers
- Help turn early conversations into pilots, partnerships, users, and commercial opportunities
- Support on-the-ground rollouts, activations, partner visits, and community events
- Liaise with partners to understand their needs, coordinate next steps, and keep things moving
- Gather market feedback from players, coaches, venues, and sports communities
- Help onboard new partners and users onto the platform
- Work closely with the founders on growth strategy, partnerships, and early operations
- Help build repeatable processes for outreach, onboarding, activations, and follow-ups
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys meeting people, building relationships, and making things happen on the ground.
This role is ideal for someone who gets energy from being out in the field rather than sitting behind a desk all day.
You should be comfortable:
- Walking into a court venue and chatting with the owner
- Speaking to coaches, organisers, players, and community leaders
- Following up with partners consistently
- Coordinating people, schedules, and moving parts
- Making sure pilots, activations, and partner rollouts run properly
- Building trust over time
- Turning conversations into action
We're not necessarily looking for the candidate with the most impressive CV. We're looking for someone who is resourceful, proactive, 'street-smart', and excited about helping build a company from the ground up.
You might be a good fit if you are:
- Naturally outgoing, friendly, and approachable
- Comfortable starting conversations with strangers
- Confident speaking with business owners and decision-makers
- Good at building trust and maintaining relationships
- Organised enough to manage follow-ups, partner conversations, timelines, and operational details
- Self-motivated and able to work independently
- Comfortable working in ambiguity and figuring things out as you go
- Calm when things are messy and practical when things need to get done
- Passionate about sports, technology, startups, or community building
Requirements
- Fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia
- Valid driving licence
- Access to a car is strongly preferred
- Willing to travel around Klang Valley and occasionally beyond
- Comfortable attending meetings, tournaments, events, and activations outside normal office hours when required
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Experience in a client-facing, people-facing, operational, or commercially oriented role
Preferred Background
We welcome candidates from a range of backgrounds.
You may have experience in:
- Sales
- Business development
- Partnerships
- Account management
- Events
- Community building
- Sports management
- Other client-facing, people-facing, or execution-heavy roles
Previous experience at an early-stage or high-growth startup is a plus, but not required.
We care more about your ability to build relationships, take ownership, and get things done than your exact job title or academic background.
If you've helped build a community, run events, grow a partnership, manage clients, coordinate operations, organise sports activities, or bring people together around something, we'd love to hear from you.
Bonus Points
- Existing network within futsal, football, badminton, pickleball, or other sports communities
- Existing network within Malaysia or Singapore's sports ecosystem
- Mandarin or Tamil proficiency
- Experience working independently with minimal supervision
- Experience coordinating events, activations, partners, teams, or on-the-ground operations
What Success Looks Like
Within your first 6 months, you'll help CourtIQ:
- Build meaningful relationships with sports venues, academies, leagues, coaches, and communities across Malaysia and Singapore
- Launch and support partnership pilots
- Ensure partner rollouts and activations run smoothly on the ground
- Grow our user and partner base
- Create repeatable processes for outreach, onboarding, activations, operations, and follow-ups
- Turn early market interest into actual adoption and commercial opportunities
- As one of the earliest business hires, you'll directly influence CourtIQ's growth strategy and help shape how we go from early product to scalable business.
Compensation
- Competitive salary
- Meaningful equity ownership
- Direct access to founders and company strategy
- Significant ownership and responsibility from day one
- Exposure to startup building, fundraising, product development, partnerships, operations, and commercial strategy
- Opportunity to help shape the future of sports technology in Southeast Asia
Location
Klang Valley preferred.
This role will involve regular on-the-ground work across Malaysia, with potential regional growth responsibilities across Singapore as CourtIQ expands.
