Summary

Louisburg College is a private, residential, two-year with enrollment ranging from 400-500 students.

The Head Men’s Basketball Coach is responsible for planning and directing the recruitment, conditioning, training, and performance of student athletes, along with fiscal program management of the Men’s Basketball Program and to accomplish the objectives of this sport within the guidelines of NJCAA and Louisburg College.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Develop practice schedules and teach the fundamental skills and drills of the game of basketball.

• Provide instruction and development for individual and team improvement, teach overall team and individual player strategies, analyze athlete performance, prepare student-athletes for the highest possible levels of competition.

• Develop a weight training and fitness program for basketball.

• Formulate a successful strategy to promote the educational welfare and sportsmanship of the student-athlete.

• Oversee the conduct and discipline of team student-athletes.

• Develop a recruitment plan and actively recruit students/athletes.

• Prepare a yearly budget for the Basketball Program.

• Purchase equipment and uniforms adhering to College purchasing policies and procedures.

• Develop a plan to ensure the academic outcomes of the players accepted into the basketball program and monitor their progress.

• Develop a plan and strategy to insure student athletes have opportunities to continue their educational athletic careers.

• Attend college/departmental meetings and events, including Game Day Operations Support for 20-25 other sports game day events each year.

• Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree is required, Master’s preferred.

• Previous coaching/playing experiences at the collegiate level are preferred.

• Valid N.C. driver’s license.

• A proven record of integrity, high principles, and demonstrated skill in developing and motivating student-athletes academically and athletically.

• Exhibit the ability to communicate effectively and appropriately.
