Head Coach- Girls Lacrosse Jobs in Hopkins at Hopkins Public Schools
- Plan, organize, and conduct effective practices, competitions, and off-season development opportunities.
- Teach and develop individual and team lacrosse skills, game strategies, conditioning, and fundamentals appropriate for high school student-athletes.
- Promote and model sportsmanship, teamwork, integrity, respect, and accountability on and off the field.
- Supervise student-athletes during practices, competitions, team travel, and other team-related activities.
- Recruit, develop, and retain student-athletes while fostering enthusiasm and participation in the girls lacrosse program.
- Oversee and provide leadership to assistant coaches while promoting consistency in coaching philosophy and player development.
- Support student-athlete academic success and monitor eligibility requirements in accordance with district and MSHSL policies.
- Coordinate team equipment, uniforms, inventory, and practice/game logistics.
- Maintain compliance with all Hopkins School District, MSHSL, and applicable girls lacrosse rules, regulations, and policies.
- Communicate effectively with assistant coaches, the athletic director, athletes, parents/guardians, officials, and school personnel.
- Promote a positive, safe, equitable, and inclusive environment where all student-athletes are valued and supported.
- Assist with scheduling, program planning, youth engagement, and community outreach to strengthen and grow the girls lacrosse program.
- Represent Hopkins High School and the athletic department with professionalism at all school and community events.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Previous lacrosse coaching/competitive experience preferred.
- Experience working with adolescents in an educational or athletic setting is preferred.
- Valid Minnesota driver’s license.
- Current MSHSL coaching certification (or ability to obtain prior to season start).
- Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
- Firearm safety certification and compliance with all state and range-specific safety requirements.
- Rules, strategies, techniques, and fundamentals of girls lacrosse.
- Principles of athlete development, skill progression, conditioning, and injury prevention.
- MSHSL, district athletic, and girls lacrosse rules, policies, and procedures.
- Child and adolescent development and positive coaching strategies.
- Equity, inclusion, and cultural competency in athletics.
- Safe practice planning, game management, and risk management procedures.
- Ability to teach and demonstrate girls lacrosse fundamentals, position-specific skills, and team strategies effectively.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with student-athletes, parents, staff, officials, and community members.
- Ability to motivate, mentor, and develop student-athletes both athletically and personally.
- Organizational skills for planning practices, managing equipment, coordinating competitions, and supervising assistant coaches.
- Ability to analyze game situations and make sound decisions during practices and competitions.
- Ability to enforce team expectations, school policies, and game rules respectfully, consistently, and fairly.
- Work is performed primarily on outdoor athletic fields, with occasional use of indoor gymnasiums or training facilities.
- Exposure to varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, rain, and changing field conditions.
- Evening, weekend, and occasional holiday hours are required during the season.
- Travel to away contests, tournaments, team events, and postseason competitions is required.

SUMMARY:
The Head Girls Lacrosse Coach will develop, implement, and promote a successful high school girls lacrosse program that emphasizes skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, leadership, discipline, and personal responsibility. This position works directly with student-athletes to foster a safe, inclusive, and competitive environment that aligns with the mission and values of Hopkins High School, the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL), and the governing rules of girls lacrosse.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
The position requires mobility to actively coach on athletic fields, demonstrate lacrosse techniques, conduct practices, and supervise competitions. The coach must have the stamina to stand, walk, run, and move continuously during practices and games, often for extended periods. The position requires the ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds, including athletic equipment, goals, training aids, and supplies. Adequate vision and hearing are necessary to observe athlete performance, monitor safety, and respond effectively during practices and competitions. Effective verbal communication is required to provide instruction, motivation, and direction in both practice and game environments.
