Gymnastics Team Coordinator Jobs in Cypress, TX at Explorer’s Learning Center at Candy Cane

Job description:

Who We Are

We’re a gymnastics and early childhood community serving more than 700 students across recreational, competitive, and adaptive programs. Our competitive team includes 75 athletes spanning Cadets, Compulsory, Xcel, and Optional levels. Our special needs program provides adaptive gymnastics for children with disabilities. Every day, kids from walking to 12 years old come through our doors and leave more confident than when they arrived.

We take the sport seriously. We take our people even more seriously.

Families choose us not just for the coaching but for how we make them feel. We’re looking for a Team Coordinator who brings the same energy to the competitive floor that we bring to everything else: high standards, genuine care, and a culture that athletes and families want to be part of.

The Role

The Team Coordinator owns and champions our competitive program but understands and promotes its role in the health of the entire gym. You’ll coach, develop athletes, manage the meet calendar, and lead the team coaching staff. You’re the person athletes and parents trust with the thing they care about most, and you take that seriously.

This isn’t just a coaching role and it isn’t just an admin role. It’s both. The right person is as comfortable building a season schedule and talking to a parent about their athlete’s progression as they are spotting a back tuck or designing a Level 7 skill selection.

You’ll be part of and responsible for helping create a cohesive gym, not just the team floor. You understand that the culture you build in the competitive program ripples through every class we teach and work to build relationships across the gym. As such, you’ll work alongside our Floor Managers and Program Coordinators and report to our Managing Coordinator and a future Gymnastics Coordinator as that role is filled.

You’ll have real autonomy here. We don’t micromanage. We set the vision, clear the path, and trust you to run.

Responsibilities:

Lead the Competitive Team

  • Coach competitive athletes across Skill Meets, Compulsory, Xcel, and Optional levels
  • Build and maintain a competitive schedule: meet selection, registration, travel coordination, and logistics
  • Coordinate coach attendance at competitions and ensure all athletes have real-time feedback and support
  • Work with Team Coaches to develop a long-term athlete development pathway from entry-level team through upper optionals

Build and Lead the Team Coaching Staff

  • Recruit, mentor, and develop team coaches
  • Run regular staff meetings, set training standards, and provide ongoing feedback
  • Foster a coaching culture built on athlete-centered development, accountability, and joy
  • Lead by example on the floor: you coach, you spot, you demonstrate, you mentor

Develop Athletes

  • Foster and protect each athlete’s love for the sport.
  • Champion growth in skill, confidence, and character at every level
  • Maintain the highest safety standards consistent with USAG policies and our gym culture
  • Support athletes through goal-setting, skill progressions, and honest performance conversations
  • Address athlete concerns and parent questions with care, clarity, and professionalism
  • Monitor physical and emotional wellbeing; recognize when athletes need extra support

Manage the Program

  • Maintain meet rosters, competition registrations, and USAG compliance for the club, athletes and coaches.
  • Coordinate and effectively communicate team scheduling, practice hours, and special training events
  • Work with Team Coaches to track athlete skill progressions and maintain accurate records in iClass
  • Support budget management for the competitive program
  • Manage off campus Physical Education athletes and coordinate with public school liason
  • Collaborate with Floor Managers and front office staff on day-to-day operations

Serve Families

  • Build genuine, trust-based relationships with team families
  • Communicate clearly and proactively on athlete progress, meet schedules, and program expectations
  • Handle parent concerns with professionalism and warmth
  • Represent our gym and our team in a way that makes families proud to be here

Requirements

Experience

  • 5+ years of competitive gymnastics coaching experience, including upper-level optional athletes preferred
  • Experience managing a competitive team calendar including meet selection and registration
  • Demonstrated experience leading or mentoring other coaches
  • Spanish proficiency preferred

Certifications

  • Current USAG Professional Membership with all required trainings complete: Safety Certification, Fundamental Gymnastics Instruction, SafeSport, Tough Coaching/Emotional Abuse, Safe Sport Policy, and Concussion Education
  • CPR and First Aid certifications required within 6 months of hire
  • Child Abuse Prevention training required within 6 months of hire
  • Background check required

Other

  • Availability to work evenings and weekends to accommodate team training and competition schedules
  • Willingness to travel for competitions
