Role Description The General Manager role is a full-time, on-site position based at one of our sacramenta area locations. The General Manager oversees day-to-day club operations, ensuring a safe, clean, and engaging environment for members, guests, and team members. This role leads and develops department managers and staff, sets performance expectations, and conducts regular coaching and feedback to support a high-performing team culture. Responsibilities include managing club financial performance, budgeting, and reporting; monitoring membership growth and retention; and supporting sales and marketing initiatives to drive club utilization. The General Manager also ensures excellent member service, addresses concerns promptly, supports program development across fitness, sports, and social activities, and maintains strong relationships with members, staff, vendors, and community partners.

Qualifications

  • Proven leadership and people management skills, including team development, coaching, and performance management.
  • Operations and facility management experience, with the ability to oversee daily club activities, safety, and maintenance standards.
  • Financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, revenue management, and expense control.
  • Member and customer service skills, with a focus on relationship building, conflict resolution, and creating a welcoming environment.
  • Sales, marketing, and community outreach experience in a service, hospitality, fitness, or sports-related environment.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities, with attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present information clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency with basic business software (e.g., email, word processing, spreadsheets) and comfort learning club management systems.
  • Experience in fitness, sports clubs, hospitality, or recreation management is highly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Hospitality, Sports Management, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends
