Freshmen Volleyball Head Coach

Summary
Schoolcraft Community Schools is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to lead our Freshmen Volleyball team as a Head Coach for the upcoming season. The ideal candidate will have a passion for the sport and a commitment to fostering the development of young athletes. This seasonal position requires strong leadership skills, effective communication, and the ability to create a positive and competitive environment for student-athletes.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement practice plans that enhance the skills and teamwork of the freshmen volleyball team.
• Organize and conduct daily practices, ensuring a focus on skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
• Prepare the team for competitions by developing game strategies and fostering a competitive spirit.
• Monitor the academic and athletic progress of student-athletes, ensuring compliance with school and athletic policies.
• Communicate regularly with players, parents, and school administration regarding team expectations, schedules, and progress.
• Promote a positive team culture that emphasizes respect, dedication, and hard work.
• Oversee team logistics, including travel arrangements, equipment management, and maintaining safety standards during practices and games.
• Collaborate with other coaches and school staff to support the overall athletic program and student development.
• Attend all scheduled games, practices, and team meetings, maintaining a visible presence as a leader and mentor.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; coaching experience or background in volleyball preferred.
• Strong knowledge of volleyball rules, techniques, and strategies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire young athletes.
• Ability to work effectively with students, parents, and school personnel.
• First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain prior to the season).
• Availability to work evenings and weekends during the season, including practices and games.
• Demonstrated commitment to promoting student-athlete well-being and academic success.
• Background check clearance as required by Schoolcraft Community Schools.
