Rampant Sports Media specializes in livestreaming rugby and other field sports with a focus on reliability over fluff. We provide clean, stable broadcasts so families, fans, and teams can actually watch the match without technical headaches.
Role Description
This is a one-day, urgent freelance assignment.
We are hiring a sports videographer to film and livestream a collegiate exhibition rugby match:
- Match: Central Washington University vs University of Washington
- Location: Starfire Sports Complex
- Date: April 24
- Kickoff: 4:00 PM PT (setup required prior)
You will be responsible for capturing and livestreaming the match via RTMP using your own equipment. Rampant will provide the RTMP URL and Stream Key.
This is not a “show up with a camera and hit record” job. You are the entire production pipeline on-site.
Required Equipment (Non-Negotiable):
You must arrive fully self-contained and ready to stream:
- 1080p-capable camera with minimum 20x optical zoom (Rugby is played on a large pitch. If you're not able to frame a midfield scrum from the pressbox, you’re not equipped.)
- Hardware video encoder (e.g., Kiloview, Teradek, or equivalent) capable of RTMP streaming
- Stable internet solution (cellular, satellite, bonded, or venue-based—your call, but it must work)
- All required gear, including:
- Tripod (fluid head strongly preferred)
- Cables (HDMI/SDI, power, network)
- Fully charged batteries / external power
- Backup power plan
Experience Requirements
Preferred: Rugby videography experience
Acceptable: Experience filming fast-paced, full-field team sports such as:
- American football
- Lacrosse
Not a fit:
- Soccer
- Baseball
- Basketball
Those sports do not translate well to rugby camera work (different pacing, field vision, and framing demands).
What We’re Looking For
- Ability to track continuous, wide-field action smoothly
- Understanding of game flow and anticipation (following play before it happens, not after)
- Confidence running a solo livestream setup under real-world conditions
- ZERO babysitting required
Compensation
Flat rate for the event (based on experience and equipment capability). Travel considerations may be discussed if applicable.
