Flag Football Counselor Jobs in Bangor, USA at Psychbilling

At Camp Laurel South, a Flag Football Counselor serves as an Athletics Specialist and Cabin Counselor. You’ll be responsible for running a high-energy program on the camp’s professional-grade athletic fields, focusing on skill development, sportsmanship, and—most importantly—fun.

As a Flag Football Instructor, you will lead daily activity periods for campers ages 7–15. You are responsible for transforming the field into a space where kids of all skill levels feel confident playing. You will manage everything from basic drills to officiating full-camp tournaments.

  • Teach the fundamentals of the game, including passing mechanics, route running, defensive positioning, and flag-pulling techniques.
  • Organize and referee daily scrimmages, ensuring games remain competitive but fair and inclusive for all skill levels.
  • Use sports as a tool to teach life skills like teamwork, resilience, and “winning with grace.”
  • Live in a cabin with a co-counselor and 8–12 campers, managing their daily schedule, hygiene, and social dynamics.

The ideal candidate is a former high school or collegiate athlete, or a physical education student with a deep passion for the game and youth development.

  • Strong knowledge of football rules and strategy; experience playing or coaching at a competitive level is highly preferred.
  • The ability to break down complex plays into simple steps for younger campers while challenging older, more experienced athletes.
  • Must be able to maintain enthusiasm through multiple outdoor sessions in the Maine summer sun.
  • Must be available for the full 7-week season, including Staff Orientation in mid-June.
