Aquila’s Fitness Specialist assists members in safe and effective exercise and performs a wide range of technical exercise and administrative duties in health/fitness center.

This is an in-person position that will begin as soon as possible. The hourly pay for this position is $22.84/hour and candidates must be able to work 40 hours a week, Monday-Friday, both a 6 a.m.-2 p.m. shift, and a 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. on alternating days.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supervise exercise areas
  • Educate members concerning safe exercise techniques
  • Teach group exercise classes
  • Perform exercise assessments and prescribe exercise upon American College of Sports Medicine guidelines
  • Conduct safe and effective assessments including cardiovascular, strength, flexibility and body composition analysis; evaluate and interpret data and identify high risk participants and special populations
  • Aid members – spotting and equipment usage
  • Explain all equipment
  • Ensure the maintenance, cleanliness and safety of all equipment
  • Adhere to departmental and club policies and procedures
  • Adhere to client’s policies and procedures
  • Attend staff meetings
  • Assist in wellness and fitness promotions and external events
  • Perform daily administrative duties

Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Kinesiology, Exercise Science or in related health/fitness field OR an Active NCCA accredited national fitness certification (ACE, NASM, AFAA, ACSM, NCSF, NSCA or other NCCA accredited certification)
  • Active CPR certification
  • 1-2 years experience in supervising adults during exercises
