About The HJGT

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2007 to provide junior golfers aged 8‑18 an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. The tour’s vision is to deliver superb hospitality and make every event memorable. With play open to both males and females, nearly every junior golfer is eligible to participate. The HJGT is the world’s largest junior golf tour, hosting more 2‑day nationally ranked events than any other tour.

In 2017, HJGT partnered with Nexus, an international hospitality and entertainment company backed by financier Joe Lewis and the Tavistock Group, to grow the game of golf, broaden the tour’s reach across the U.S. and worldwide.

Position Summary

Under the direct supervision and mentorship of HJGT Tournament Directors and Staff Members, interns will learn how to operate golf tournaments through active involvement in all aspects of tournament operations, from course setup to breakdown. The unpaid internship requires extensive weekend travel across the country, including states such as Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee, Alabama, Kentucky, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Maryland, Washington, Oregon, Nevada, Colorado, Missouri, Illinois, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Texas, Minnesota, Iowa, California, Arizona, New Jersey, and North Carolina.

When not traveling, interns receive business operations training from the senior leadership team. Five operations teams span the country; two are housed full‑time in GA, and the remaining three are travel teams lodging in hotels during the program.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a degree in Business, Sports Management, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Unpaid internship; must receive at least one college credit for the onsite experience from an accredited institution.
  • Maintained good academic standing at your college/university.

Responsibilities

  • Provide extensive customer service to all players and families.
  • Assist with tournament set‑up, including marking courses, tee and hole locations, scoreboard set‑up, and utility set‑up.
  • Manage starting and scoring of players, officiate on‑course rules, and ensure pace of play.
  • Perform other duties assigned by management.

  • Knowledge of golf (preferred).
  • Ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Goal‑oriented and result‑driven.

Students may use the HJGT internship for college credit. The institution will determine the credit amount. All interns must be enrolled in at least one credit‑earning course.
