JOB DESCRIPTION

• POSITION: Middle School Head Volleyball Coach
• TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Seasonal;  Year
• SALARY RANGE: Based on County Extra-Curricular Salary Scale
• QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Teacher Certification and knowledge in assigned sport; individuals with certification through WVSSAC will be considered.
  • Applicants with unsatisfactory evaluations in the past year, unsatisfactory interview performance, or unfavorable reference recommendations are not eligible. Applicants not currently employed who have been dismissed or had contracts non-renewed for cause by another school district are also ineligible.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.
• IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Principal
• EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the principal.
• RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist in providing leadership and support in planning, developing, and implementing an instructional program in the sport.
  • Assist in providing leadership and support in administering the sports program.
  • Assist in fostering a climate conducive to learning.
  • Assist in establishing and implementing an improvement process for the sport.
  • Assist in establishing good public and employee relations for the sport.
  • Maintain professional work habits.
  • Maintain and upgrade professional skills to improve instruction for students.
  • Communicate with parents and the educational community.
  • Implement fundamental sports skills and sports management systems.
• ASSISTANT COACHES PERFORMANCE CRITERIA:
  • Professional and Interpersonal Relations:
    Communicate with educational personnel, parents, students, and others; cooperate with principal and head coach; foster positive relationships; maintain appropriate conduct during games and practices; participate in professional growth activities.
  • Coaching and Related Areas:
    Organize strategies for teaching sports skills and sports management systems; develop high quality instruction; handle athletic injuries; care for equipment; supervise participants; design practice sessions; plan pre-season; initiate game organization; follow league, conference, and WVSSAC policies; devote time to coaching duties; follow end of season procedures.
