Exercise Physiologist
The Exercise Physiologist is responsible for providing personal training services, wellness services, and exceptional health services including fitness assessments, exercise programming and guidance. The primary responsibilities include:
- Closely analyze a patient’s medical history to assess any potential risks that exercise may pose.
- Perform fitness and stress tests on patients to determine their strengths and limitations, as well as the most appropriate starting point for a fitness program.
- Measure and monitor patient vital signs, such as heart rate, blood pressure, heart rhythms, and oxygen levels.
- Educate patients about their injuries and health conditions, such as lung disease and diabetes, and provide information about how to stay healthy.
- Teach patients how to perform exercises safely and effectively.
- Develop, implement, and promote fitness and wellness events, seminars, and programs.
- Provide new member assessments, re‑assessments, and program development.
- Maintain a high-stress workload by managing multiple demands simultaneously.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Physiology, Health, or a related field.
- Prior experience as an Exercise Physiologist.
Preferred
Skills and Abilities
- Advanced knowledge in exercise prescription.
- Exemplary customer service skills.
Licenses and Certifications
- Basic Life Support Certified – American Heart Association required within 30 days of hire; recertified every two years.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Certified – American Heart Association (preferred).
- AAFAA, ACE, or other nationally recognized personal training certification (preferred).
Physical Demand
Medium‑Heavy:
The role requires moderate to heavy physical activity, including lifting exercise equipment, assisting clients with mobility, and operating in potentially water‑based environments.
