POSITION SUMMARY
The Esports Program Manager is responsible for the development, recruitment, and operation of Lackawanna College’s Esports program while supporting broader enrollment and student engagement initiatives. This position oversees team operations, talent identification, competitive scheduling, marketing, and community outreach, and works collaboratively with Athletics, Enrollment, and Marketing to grow participation and retention. Evening, weekend, and occasional overnight travel is required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
Esports Program Development & Operations
- Recruit, evaluate, and enroll Esports student‑athletes to build a competitive and sustainable program.
- Oversee team tryouts, roster management, practice planning, and player development.
- Establish competitive goals, schedules, and performance benchmarks for Esports teams.
- Organize and manage Esports matches, tournaments, scrimmages, and special events.
- Ensure compliance with applicable collegiate Esports governing bodies (NACE, CLOL, TESPA, etc.).
Recruitment & Enrollment Support
- Develop and maintain relationships with high school Esports programs, gaming organizations, and community partners.
- Travel to high schools, recruitment events, and community programs to promote Lackawanna College and Esports opportunities.
- Collaborate with Admissions and Enrollment Management on campus visits, open houses, and recruitment initiatives.
- Assist with presentations and outreach to prospective students, parents, and counselors.
Marketing, Branding & Community Engagement
- Collaborate with Athletics Marketing and the Sports Information Director to promote Esports events, recruitment efforts, and student success.
- Manage Esports branding, social media presence, and digital engagement platforms, including streaming and content creation.
- Serve as a liaison to the gaming community and industry partners.
Student Support & Administration
- Monitor Esports student‑athlete academic progress, eligibility, retention, and overall engagement.
- Support student retention initiatives and promote academic and personal success.
- Prepare regular reports related to recruitment, participation, retention, and competitive outcomes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
KEY COMPETENCIES
- Strong knowledge of Esports, competitive gaming titles, and industry trends.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
- Experience with Esports event coordination and digital platforms (e.g., Twitch, Discord, OBS).
- Ability to align program growth with institutional and enrollment goals.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Ability to work flexible hours and travel as required.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred in Business, Marketing, Sports Management, Communications, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in Esports program management, recruitment, coaching, event planning, or related areas.
- Collegiate Esports experience strongly preferred.
