Role Description
The Esports Competition Manager is a full-time, on-site position based at Stony Brook University, NY. Responsibilities include managing the operations of the university's esports competitions and events, coordinating team activities and schedules, and overseeing recruitment and onboarding of participants. The role will require building partnerships with esports organizations, managing equipment and facility needs, and ensuring compliance with competition rules and regulations. The manager will also work collaboratively with coaches, students, and university departments to enhance the esports program and promote student engagement.
Qualifications
- Experience in event management, team coordination, and organizing competitive gaming or similar activities
- Familiarity with esports industry standards, rules, and variety of game platforms and genres
- Proficiency in digital tools and platforms for organizing and promoting events, such as content creation or social media
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse stakeholders
- Ability to manage budgets and resources effectively
- Understanding of compliance and governance in educational or sports organizations
- Knowledge of current trends and developments in competitive gaming and student engagement
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience
- Experience with student programming or higher education esports initiatives is a plus
