Description
As an Ecologist at Foster + Partners, you will join a growing landscape team contributing to high-profile international masterplanning, public realm and regeneration projects. You’ll help shape environmental design solutions by applying strong ecological knowledge across diverse biomes, advocating for biodiversity, and providing insight that guides responsible, nature positive design outcomes.
This role is ideal if you want to:
- Work closely with landscape architects and design teams to embed biodiversity across global projects.
- Advocate for nature positive design and promote the mitigation hierarchy in project development.
- Undertake ecological research, site analyses and assessments of habitats, species and protected areas.
- Provide early-stage ecological impact assessments and practical biodiversity advice.
- Carry out biodiversity net gain, natural capital and related ecological metric calculations.
What you will bring to the team:
- Strong understanding of habitat ecology and species across multiple geographies.
- Ability to support ecological design thinking through research, analysis and clear communication.
- A proactive, collaborative approach and confidence working both independently and within a team.
- Degree level qualification in ecology, biology, natural sciences or a related discipline.
- Experience providing ecological advice within design, development or construction contexts.
- Membership (or working towards membership) of a relevant professional body such as CIEEM.
- Good working knowledge of GIS and familiarity with ecological fieldwork.
