Coordinator of Competitive Sports Jobs in Troy, AL at Troy University
The Department of Campus Recreation is located in the Division of Student Affairs, which includes comprehensive recreation and wellness programming including; fitness, aquatics, informal recreation, and well-being education. The Department of Campus Recreation provides a variety of programs, services and events, which strive to engage students and others in the Troy University community in the attainment of healthy lifestyle behaviors that will carry forward throughout their lifespan. With Health and Wellness as a major theme for the University’s strategic plan, the Department is expected to provide opportunities that enhance student success.
Under the supervision of Associate Dean of Student Services the Coordinator of Competitive Sports will supervise 15+ student staff as well as a graduate assistant in the planning and implementation of a comprehensive competitive sports program. This position provides student development that reinforces and enhances classroom and academic learning through the application of related theories and employee related skills.
Programming: Oversee the day to day operations of the intramural sports program including marketing, leagues scheduling, payroll, and human resource functions for student staff. Develop all policies, procedures and sport specific rules related to intramural sports. Maintain records of all league standings, sportsmanship and participation rates for intramural sports. Provide on-site training and evaluation of student staff. Manage disciplinary proceedings, as related to participation in intramural sports leagues and events. Serve as primary risk manager for areas of direct supervision. Assist with design and scheduling of intramural calendar of events. Manage staffing for club sport practices and events. Develop, plan, and budget for introduction and implementation of summer leagues and events. Assist with the implementation of departmental and divisional summer programs. Assists with managing existing and developing new collaborative programming in and outside the Department of Campus Recreation
Facility & Equipment Management: Responsible for coordination of required field maintenance and painting. Responsible for monitoring and maintaining appropriate equipment conditions and inventory levels. Ensure safety of participants in all areas of oversight and programs by monitoring environmental conditions.
Additional: Serve on departmental and university committees. Maintain a non-standard work schedule (during fall & spring semesters) with the occasional hours on evenings, weekends, and university breaks based on program offerings and schedule. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree in Sport Management, Recreation or related field.
2. Previous experience in the promotion, design, development, and administration of a collegiate campus recreation or city recreational competitive sports programs.
4. Valid driver’s license.
5. American Red Cross First Aid/AED/CPR certification or able to obtain

Preferred Qualifications
1. Demonstrated experience successfully leading sports officials training including flag football, basketball, soccer, volleyball, & softball. Some knowledge of Esports
2. Experience officiating at the extramural, interscholastic, or intercollegiate level(s).
3. Demonstrated budgeting experience.
4. Current involvement in one or more of the following professional organizations: National Intramural & Recreation Sports Association (NIRSA), National Federation High School (NFHS), Alabama Recreation Parks Association (ARPA), National Recreation Parks Association (NRPA) and/or the National Association of Sports Officials (NASO).
5. Demonstrated computer skills including Microsoft Office and knowledgeable with recreation management software.
