Job Description

Our Company

We believe Running Changes Everything. If you believe that, too, we want to talk. With more than 280 stores and a robust e-commerce site, Fleet Feet is the largest running retailer in the country. Catering to more than runners, we pride ourselves on having an inclusive environment! We believe it’s a privilege to serve and to deliver unmatched service and support when outfitting every customer. We run together to solve problems, reach goals, encourage others and champion our brand.

Overview

As the Community Outreach Director for a multi-store market, you will be the strategic force behind all marketing and community engagement efforts. In this role, you’ll lead the outreach vision, manage local outreach teams, and align every initiative with the business goals of each store. You’ll own the market’s marketing strategy and budget, measure the success of campaigns and events, and help elevate Fleet Feet as a trusted resource for running, fitness, and wellness in the community.

Working closely with Operating Partners, Store Leadership, and the Fleet Feet Store Support Team, you’ll ensure that community relationships, local events, and in-store experiences reflect Fleet Feet’s brand, mission, and growth objectives. This is a high-impact leadership role for someone who thrives at the intersection of grassroots marketing, community building, and retail success.

If you're a community connector, strategic marketer, and passionate leader ready to amplify Fleet Feet’s impact across multiple stores, we want to hear from you. Apply now and help us inspire the runner in everyone.

  • Partner with store leaders to plan and execute local events, campaigns, and activations that drive in-store sales.
  • Ensure all activities remain within the marketing budget and align with Fleet Feet’s brand standards and national strategy.
  • Regularly report on event performance and ROI to store leadership.
  • Serve as the primary contact for regional marketing support from Fleet Feet Store Support Team.

Team Leadership

  • Manage, mentor, and grow a team of Community Outreach Coordinators and Managers across multiple locations.
  • Conduct weekly 1:1 meetings with team members, setting clear expectations and offering feedback and support.
  • Provide the tools, resources, and delegation needed for each team member to succeed in their store and community.
  • Lead by example and foster a positive, motivated culture of performance and connection.

Sales Floor Presence

  • Work weekly shifts on the sales floor to stay connected to the customer experience and staff culture.
  • Promote upcoming events to customers and coach retail staff on how to do the same.
  • Support Retail Experience Managers as a visible, knowledgeable, and supportive leader.

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of marketing, community engagement, or grassroots outreach experience (retail preferred)
  • Proven success leading marketing strategies and outreach campaigns across multiple locations
  • Experience managing people, building teams, and providing mentorship and development
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across multiple levels
  • Self-directed, adaptable, and able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Passionate about Fleet Feet’s mission and active lifestyle communities
  • Proficient in Google Suite, Canva, and Microsoft Office
  • Existing relationships within the local fitness, wellness, or running communities preferred
  • Experience in run specialty or fitness-related retail a plus
