Role Overview
The Communications and Marketing Officer will support and implement a communications and marketing strategy to promote Rockwell College to both national and international audiences, across digital platforms and in-person events.
The appointee will report directly to the Principal of the College and will be required to address the Board of Management at the Board’s request. The list of duties outlined here is not exhaustive and is subject to review and amendment.
Key Objective
The function of this role is to solidify enrolment of day boarding and boarding pupils, through the following:
- Create, manage and coordinate the publication of content relevant to Rockwell College at various events and on various platforms, including social media and websites
- Organise and attend identified pupil recruitment opportunities in Ireland and abroad
- Collaborate with management to develop, implement and review the College’s marketing plan
- Actively communicate and market the College’s strong academic and holistic education
- Attend a wide variety of student extracurricular activities including matches and trainings and promote these events accordingly
- Promote the proud academic history of Rockwell College on various platforms
- Photography and videography will feature significantly in this role
- Work within the seven Spiritan core values of Rockwell College
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor, maintain and create content for social media platforms, predominantly LinkedIn, X, Facebook and Instagram to promote Rockwell College
- Ensure consistency of the Rockwell College brand, tone and messaging across all communications and platforms
- Develop relationships and a communication system within the staff body of the College
- Monitor and maintain the College website to maximise exposure to the College
- Promote Rockwell College weekly in local press and in local papers nationally as occasion arises
- Circulate a monthly College e-newsletter to include news/events relevant to boarders and day pupils
- Oversee the promotion and advertising of key recruitment events eg: Boarders’ ‘taster’ overnight / Open Day
- Report to Board meetings to update the Board on progress
- Coordinate with other stakeholders such as the Rockwell College Union, Parents’ Association Committee, Student Representative Council etc when interests align
- Liaise with teachers, staff and faculty across the school year to prepare the College Annual
- Provide material to the Spiritan Education Trust for its termly e-newsletters
The Ideal Candidate Will
- Be available on site Monday to Friday
- Have strong interpersonal skills
- Have a proven record of working in a dynamic environment with multiple stakeholders
- Hold a Third Level degree in Communications, Marketing, Business or similar relevant field
- Have a strong knowledge of CMS (Wordpress)
- Have proven social media management skills
- Demonstrate strong organisational skills
- Have display/design ability
- Be willing and available to travel to marketing events overseas if required
- Be flexible and adaptable
- Ideally have an awareness of the Irish and international second level school systems
