Overview

The University of Denver is seeking a knowledgeable and dedicated Club Gymnastics Coach to lead our Club Gymnastics team. This position requires a gymnastics background. The ideal candidate will foster a supportive, disciplined, and motivating environment to help student‑athletes reach their full potential. This is a non‑benefited position not to exceed 1,000 hours in a calendar year.

Essential Functions

  • Enforce practice attendance and participation requirements to ensure athlete accountability and preparedness.
  • Attend all competitions, including coaching meetings and running responsibilities, and actively support athletes at meets.
  • Plan, structure and organize practices to maximize efficiency, safety, and skill development.
    • Lead and initiate warm‑ups, ensuring athletes arrive on time and warm up properly.
    • Ensure athletes remain engaged and practicing for the majority or entirety of each practice.
  • Spot and assist athletes in learning and progressing new gymnastics skills.
  • Provide constructive technique feedback and individualized skill critiques.
  • Foster a positive, athlete‑centered environment that prioritizes enjoyment of the sport and healthy athlete‑sport relationships over results, scores, or medals.
  • Treat athletes as adults and students first, respecting academic and personal responsibilities.
  • Meet athletes where they are by accommodating varying skill levels, commitments, and individual goals within the club.
  • Promote a positive team culture emphasizing sportsmanship, discipline, accountability and mutual respect.
  • Complete and submit bi‑weekly timesheets in compliance with university policies.

  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, based on the team’s training and competition schedule.
  • Ability to balance competitiveness while ensuring players enjoy the experience on the team.

Required Qualifications

  • First Aid/CPR/AED certification (to be obtained within first 30 days of employment)
  • CDC Heads Up Concussion Training certification (to be obtained within first 30 days of employment)

Work Schedule

  • Average 6-15 hrs/week
  • Flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, based on the team’s training and competition schedule
  • Commit to traveling to away meets, 3-4 weekly practices each week in evenings and weekends for meets
  • Coach from September to end of June (no coaching during summer or winter break)

Compensation

Hourly rate: $20.00 – $25.00. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. Salary is determined based on qualifications, departmental budget, internal equity, and market information.
