The newly established UC Irvine Wen School of Population & Public Health is dedicated to the achievement of health equity for all populations through teaching, research, service and public health practice locally and globally. The mission for the UC Irvine Center for Occupational & Environmental Health is to improve occupational and environmental health in the region we serve. The Center extends its services to government, industry, schools, health professionals, and the public. We strive to improve the region’s awareness of occupational and environmental hazards and to prevent injury and disease.
Responsibilities:
The AMBUL CARE ADMSTN SUPV 1 serves and the Clinic Office Manager and as the Exercise Physiologist (25%) for the professional activities of the Occupational and Environmental Clinic at the Center for Occupational and Environmental Health (COEH). Serves as a member of the decision-making professional team, with clinical and administrative staff and operations, facilitating, scheduling, and tracking patient visits for 20-30 contracted employer occupational health programs. The Exercise Physiologist will act as a provider performing clinical fitness testing procedures for pre-placement evaluations and wellness programs. The Clinic Manager role includes the oversight and management of the clinic’s day to day operations. Duties include management and coordination of outside lab and x-ray services, outside service referrals and assist doctors with case coordination. Other assignments: Assistance and participation in teaching activities for the Occupational Medicine Residency Program and other special groups.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Demonstrated supervisory and organizational skills to effectively supervise staff and to manage the complex workflow and multiple priorities involved with clinic / center administration.
- Strong knowledge of practice operations, patient-scheduling systems, medical and insurance terminology, applicable information systems, patient service standards, regulatory requirement and best practices.
- Strong knowledge of human resources management policies, with the ability to train, monitor, evaluate, and document human resources issues and performance, and to participate in decision-making on human resources matters.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to quickly analyze problems, determine appropriate level of intervention, and develop and apply effective solutions.
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with all levels of management and staff, consultants, and outside agencies.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to train and mentor subordinates, to convey complex administrative, clinical, and technical information in a clear and concise manner, and to prepare and present a variety of reports, documentation, analyses, and project proposals.
- Strong knowledge of business software and specialized applications and data management systems used in clinic / center operations.
- Knowledgeable about confidentiality of data according to HIPPA and JCAHO guidelines
- Bachelor’s degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
- American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support
- American College of Sports Medicine Certified Exercise Physiologist
- NIOSH Spirometry
- CAOHC Hearing Conservation
- 3-5 years Experience in administering and interpreting 12 lead EKG treadmill tests
- A minimum of 1 year of experience ability to accommodate and manage a variety of testing situations and clients
- 3-5 years Experience working as an Exercise Physiologist in a clinic setting
Preferred:
- Knowledge of occupational health and workers ‘compensation
- knowledge of State OSHA requirements and workers compensation to manage occupational health record files
Special Conditions:
- • May require travel to conduct surveillance exams at contracted location • May require varying hours and schedule to accommodate clinic workload • May require travel to various department and campus locations for meetings
