Responsibilities
- Plan and execute engaging cheerleading practices that develop routines, stunts, jumps, and dance sequences aligned with team goals
- Teach proper cheerleading techniques, safety procedures, and performance skills to students of varying ages and skill levels
- Foster a supportive environment that emphasizes teamwork, discipline, sportsmanship, and positive behavior management
- Organize team performances for school events, competitions, and community activities to showcase student talent and school spirit
- Monitor student progress through regular feedback and adapt coaching strategies to meet individual needs
- Promote physical fitness by integrating conditioning exercises relevant to cheerleading, gymnastics, and martial arts such as karate or judo when appropriate
- Ensure all activities adhere to safety standards related to cheerleading stunts, climbing routines, or other physical activities involving coordination or balance
Experience
- Demonstrated experience in sports coaching or teaching physical education, preferably with cheerleading or related activities like gymnastics or dance
- Background in lifeguard duties or swimming instruction is advantageous for incorporating water safety into routines involving aquatic elements
- Knowledge of martial arts such as karate or judo enhances ability to teach discipline-based skills applicable to cheerleading stunts and tumbling
- Prior childcare experience or working with students helps foster a nurturing coaching environment
- Familiarity with behavior management techniques ensures positive reinforcement during training sessions
- Experience working in health clubs or gyms provides insight into fitness training and injury prevention strategies
- Proven ability to lead groups effectively while maintaining a lively, motivating atmosphere
