Our comprehensive services include orthopedic clinic visits, pain management services, diagnostic imaging (X-ray, MRI, and CT), surgical procedures, anesthesia services, and revenue cycle management. We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Certified Medical Coder to join our team onsite and help ensure accurate coding, compliance, and reimbursement across multiple service lines.
Position Summary
The Certified Medical Coder is responsible for reviewing clinical documentation and assigning accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and modifier codes for orthopedic office visits, pain management services, imaging studies, surgical procedures, and anesthesia services. This role works closely with providers, billing staff, and management to ensure coding accuracy, compliance with payer guidelines, and optimization of reimbursement.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesOrthopedic & Pain Management Coding
- Review and code office visits using appropriate E/M guidelines.
- Assign accurate ICD-10 diagnosis codes and CPT procedure codes.
- Code orthopedic and pain management procedures and services.
- Ensure documentation supports all billed services.
Imaging Coding
- Code and review services related to:
- X-ray
- MRI
- CT Scans
- Verify medical necessity and compliance with payer requirements.
Surgical Coding
- Review operative reports and assign accurate CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS, and modifier coding.
- Understand orthopedic surgical procedures including:
- Joint replacements
- Arthroscopy
- Fracture care
- Sports medicine procedures
- Apply global surgery rules and payer-specific guidelines.
Anesthesia Coding
- Review anesthesia records and assign appropriate anesthesia CPT codes.
- Calculate and verify anesthesia time units and modifiers.
- Ensure compliance with Medicare and commercial payer regulations.
Billing & Compliance Support
- Work closely with the billing department to resolve coding-related claim denials.
- Conduct coding audits and identify documentation deficiencies.
- Educate providers and staff regarding coding updates and compliance requirements.
- Stay current on coding regulations, payer policies, and industry changes.
QualificationsRequired
- Current coding certification such as:
- CPC (Certified Professional Coder)
- CCS (Certified Coding Specialist)
- COC (Certified Outpatient Coder)
- Minimum 3 years of medical coding experience.
- Experience coding orthopedic services, pain management services, and surgical procedures.
- Strong knowledge of:
- ICD-10-CM
- CPT
- HCPCS
- Modifier usage
- Medical terminology and anatomy
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) systems.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Preferred
- Orthopedic surgery coding experience.
- Pain management coding experience, including injections and interventional procedures.
- Anesthesia coding experience.
- Experience working in a multi-provider specialty practice.
- Familiarity with Medicare, Workers’ Compensation, and commercial insurance guidelines.

Pay: $60,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
