Role Description This is a full-time, hybrid Business Development Manager role based in South Africa, with a mix of on-site client engagement and work-from-home flexibility. The Business Development Manager will identify and qualify new business opportunities, build and manage a pipeline of prospective clients, and drive sales of gym equipment and turnkey fitness solutions. Daily responsibilities include conducting market research, meeting with key decision-makers, preparing and delivering presentations and proposals, and negotiating contracts that align with company targets. The role will also involve collaborating with internal teams on facility layout, equipment specifications, and service offerings to tailor solutions to client needs. The successful candidate will maintain strong relationships with existing clients, monitor market trends and competitor activity, and provide regular reports and forecasts to leadership.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in business development, sales, or account management, ideally in fitness, health, sports, or related equipment or solutions.
- Strong skills in pipeline management, prospecting, lead qualification, and closing deals in B2B environments.
- Ability to understand and position turnkey solutions, including facility layout, equipment configuration, and service offerings.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at multiple levels.
- Strong analytical and planning capabilities, including market research, forecasting, and sales reporting.
- Comfort working in a hybrid environment, with the ability to travel to client sites and manage remote work effectively.
- Demonstrated collaboration skills, working closely with technical, operations, and service teams to deliver integrated solutions.
- Self-motivated, goal-oriented approach with a track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Business, Marketing, Sports Management, or a related field is advantageous.
- Knowledge of or passion for the fitness and wellness industry, and understanding of commercial gym or facility operations, is a plus.
