Business Analyst – Sports Management Platform Jobs in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia at World Sport Action
Title: Business Analyst – Sports Management Platform
Company: World Sport Action
Location: Sydney, New South Wales, Australia
We are looking for someone who will sit at the intersection of our Account Managers, and our engineering squads. You decide what work enters the sprint, write the requirements that make it buildable, keep Account Managers informed at every stage, and make sure nothing falls through the gap between "the client asked for this" and "it's live in production."
Responsibilities
- Requirements definition – Translate complex client needs into requirements developers can build without constant clarification. Translate technical constraints back to Account Managers without jargon.
- Sprint planning – Work backwards from client deadlines to propose sprint allocation. Run backlog grooming. Once the Delivery Manager signs off on feasibility, you confirm the committed date back to the client.
- Issue triage & prioritisation – Daily triage of escalated client issues. You decide what's urgent, what routes through a standard sprint, and you keep Account Managers informed throughout — from intake to resolution.
- Client communication – All communication with Account Managers on new requests, delivery timelines, issue updates, and committed dates. The engineering team's voice to clients runs through you.
Qualifications
- Solid experience as a Business Analyst in a SaaS or software product environment
- Strong written communication — you write clearly, concisely, and in a way that leaves no room for ambiguity
- Comfortable owning a conversation with an Account Manager — you can handle push back, manage expectations, and give a clear answer under pressure
- Experienced with JIRA or a comparable ticket and sprint management tool
- Able to write requirements a developer can act on — user needs, UI specifications, acceptance criteria — without being hand-held
- Organised enough to hold many things in flight at once without dropping the ball on any of them
- A genuine interest in software — you don't need to write code, but you need to understand how software gets built
Nice to have
- Experience in sports, membership management, association management, or participation software
- Familiarity with agile and scrum delivery — standups, sprints, grooming sessions
- Some exposure to SQL or data concepts — useful for ad-hoc investigations and supporting client data requests
- Experience in a high-growth software business
