Job Overview
The Athletic Director is responsible for the overall leadership, coordination, and administration of the school’s athletic program. This includes supervision of all coaches and athletic staff, ensuring compliance with all district, state, and governing body regulations, overseeing student-athlete eligibility, and promoting a culture of excellence, integrity, and sportsmanship across all athletic programs.

Responsibilities

  • Program Leadership & Staff Management
  • Provide leadership, supervision, and evaluation of all head coaches, assistant coaches, and athletic personnel.
  • Assist in hiring, assigning, and supporting coaching staff in collaboration with school administration.
  • Ensure all coaches clearly understand roles and expectations as it relates to district and state guidelines.
  • Conduct regular meetings with coaching staff to maintain alignment with program goals.
  • Oversee professional development and certification requirements for all coaches.Athletic Program Oversight
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate all athletic programs, including preseason, in-season, and offseason activities.
  • Coordinate the Administration coverage schedule for all home athletic contests, events, and related activities.
  • Ensure proper home game management; including setting up GoFan ticketing, staffing, security, officials, and event operations.
  • Promote sportsmanship, ethical conduct, and positive representation of the school and district.
  • Oversee booster club compliance and internal fundraising in alignment with district policies and state statutes.
  • Submit bus and rental van requests for all away games. Complete all MVR’s for team travel as needed.Eligibility & Compliance
  • Ensure full compliance with Bay District Schools policies, District handbook guidelines, FHSAA regulations, and applicable Florida statutes.
  • Maintain student-athlete eligibility using HomeCampus (academic, residency, physicals, and required documentation).
  • Ensure all coaches meet FLDOE certification, NFHS course requirements, and district compliance standards.
  • Manage and update the Human Resources coaches roster spreadsheet throughout the year as needed.
  • Monitor completion of fingerprinting, badging, and Human Resources onboarding for all athletic personnel.
  • Maintain accurate and timely submission of required reports, forms, and documentation.
  • Complete and submit the annual Title IX Equity Report.Scheduling, Facilities & Operations
  • Develop and manage athletic schedules for all sports, including contests, practices, and facility use on your school’s Facilitron dashboard.
  • Oversee transportation, officials, and game-day logistics for all sports.
  • Report any maintenance request or safety concerns to your administrator over facilities.
  • Supervise each program’s inventory, purchasing, and maintenance of athletic equipment and supplies.
  • Manage and oversee the athletic budgets (2015 & 0041) in alignment with district policies.Communication & Community Relations
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the athletic department, school administration, district officials, parents, and community stakeholders.
  • Ensure all coaches are communicating with players and parents through the district-approved athletic app.
  • Oversee the accuracy and maintenance of schedules, rosters, game results, and program information on the school’s athletic platforms.
  • Promote athletic programs through community engagement, social media, and positive public relations.Student-Athlete Support & Development
  • Promote academic success and monitor student-athlete academic progress in collaboration with coaches and school staff.
  • Ensure a safe and supportive environment for all student-athletes.
  • Encourage leadership, character development, and sportsmanship across all programs.Events, Recognition & Program Culture
  • Oversee and support athletic events, including senior nights, playoffs, and special events.
  • Coordinate signing ceremonies for all student athletes who are signing with a post secondary institution to continue their athletic careers.
  • Support coaches as they coordinate end of season banquets and awards recognition activities.
  • Ensure appropriate recognition of student-athletes, teams, and coaches for achievements and milestones.
  • Promote a positive and competitive athletic culture aligned with school and district values.

Pay: $50,500.00 – $60,838.61 per year
