About The Position
- Schaumburg Christian School (SCS) is seeking a dynamic and visionary leader that can help maintain and grow our athletic programs. This position will help cultivate a school community that empowers students to become, through Christ, lifelong servants and leaders. This role will oversee, develop, and schedule SCS’s athletic events and programs.
Athletic Mission
- To raise the banner of Christ by using the platform of sports to communicate to others, strive to get better, and elevate the Conqueror Program through purpose and positivity!
Roles & Responsibilities
- Works with school administration to implement the athletic policies and programs of the school
- Supervise and enforce the various policies of the Student and Athletic Handbooks
- Creates and maintains a high-impact, competitive athletic environment
- Coordinates and schedules all sporting events and contests
- Update and maintain athletic website and social media
- Schedule all officials for home events
- Communicates to parents, students, faculty, etc.
- Create and maintain athletic budget
- Assists with school scheduling busses
- Organizes all team photo opportunities
- Creates opportunities for our teams to have unique playing experiences
- Cultivates and maintains relationships with local park districts
- Cultivates and maintain relationships with athletic conference ADs
- Supervises home athletic events
- Collaborate with Director of Facilities to ensure on-site facilities are ready for home events
- Visit games and practices on a regular basis to assist in maintaining athlete accountability/discipline.
- Regularly communicates athletic policies, contracts, expectations, etc. with all coaches
- Oversees athletic eligibility
- Attends staff meetings and all required conference meetings
- Acquires continuous new knowledge of the profession by attending clinics and continuing education in fields that are practical
- Works to secure sponsorship for athletics to increase the professional nature of all programs
- Develop and implement ceremonies: awards, pep rallies, special recognition
- Encourage eighth grade retention including contact with eighth grade
- Organize and lead elementary leagues and summer camps
- Interview any incoming students at the discretion of the administration
- Assist with Parent Action Committee meetings
- Assist in planning and preparation for player growth and development through school leagues
- Ability to generate athletic press releases
- Ability to recruit and interview prospective coaches
- Any additional at the discretion of the administrator
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Master’s degree preferred
- Experience playing and coaching multiple sports preferred
- CDL preferred but not required
Spiritual Qualifications
- Must be a confessing and practicing Christian in a church of like-faith
- Must be exemplary Christian role model
- Must uphold SCS’s spiritual and academic mission and philosophy of education
