Position Description
Job Title: Athletic Administrator
Department: Athletics Department
Status: FT Classification: 12 months
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Athletic Director is responsible for the planning and management of the OMA entire athletic program, community relationship building/networking, fund development, and supervision of staff members, coaches, and volunteers in the following areas: special events, records management, boosters, fundraising, community engagement, and GISA regulations. Additionally, the Athletic Director serves as a member of the
Administrative/Leadership Team.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
General Administration
- Define and manage the OMA athletic programs and activities, working with the Headmaster in effectively implementing and reviewing them on a continuous basis
- Oversee and review the scheduling of all athletic activities and events to avoid conflicts in the use of sports, school program, transportation, facilities, and testing dates
- Assist and support the coaching staff in enforcing the physical and academic requirements of eligibility for participation in each sport, and verify each athlete’s eligibility
- Keep current on all trends, laws, and best practices in safety and general athletics
- Serve as the Administrator on Duty for all athletic events unless head coaching that specific sport
- Coordinate the scholarship promotion for student athletes in collaboration with the College Counselor
- Design and implement a strength and conditioning program
- Teach one to three classes
- Participate in curriculum development and the formation of goals/objectives in health and physical education
- Uphold and enforce OMA and athletic program policies and regulations
Personnel Management
- Recruit, select, train, and supervise all coaches and athletic trainers and make sound recommendations to
Headmaster about personnel placement, assignments, retention, discipline, and dismissal
- Supervise and evaluate athletic personnel; enforce coaching expectations
- Recruit, select, and supervise game officials
- Establish, staff, and maintain a year-long conditioning program for all sports
Communication
- Establish and maintain open lines of communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, and faculty regarding vital issues
- Implement and enforce student management policies; communicate expected student behavior related to athletics; and ensure enforcement of student discipline in accordance with the student Code of Conduct and student handbook
- Serve as the chief spokesperson for the OMA athletic program. This includes networking with potential feeder schools and community engagement
- Assist the coaching staff with the distribution of sport schedules and results to the media/general public
- Continue the on-going development of strong relationships with all current and future stakeholders
- Maintain open lines of communication by conducting meetings/conferences with parents, students, and faculty regarding vital issues
- Work cooperatively with the Headmaster and Director of Marketing to publicize the athletic program
- Distribute sport schedules and results to the media and general public
- Represent OMA at community events that result in building strong alliances relationships
Financial Management
- Co-lead in the preparation and management of the athletic budget
- Initiate quotes and bids on capital expenses in accordance with budgetary limitations and policies
- Ensure payment of game officials for home competitive events
- Submit request for coaching stipends each season
Facilities and Equipment Management
- Work cooperatively with Director of Facilities to maintain upkeep of athletic facilities and grounds, such as repair/painting of buildings, maintenance of grass/ground, etc.
- Requisition and purchase necessary athletic equipment and supplies as pre-approved by the Headmaster
- Manage the storage, distribution, security, cleaning, and repair of athletic equipment
- Maintain a property inventory of all material and equipment assigned to the athletic department
- Supervise athletic facilities
- Maintain neat and organized athletic and storage facilities
- Coordinate with the Headmaster the scheduling of athletic facilities, facility rentals, and transportation
Athletic Events
- Attend school athletic events and provide direct supervision during athletic events
- Ensure preparation of athletic facilities and grounds for practices and athletic events
- Coordinate transportation, lodging, and meal arrangements for out-of-town athletic games
- Secure adequate personnel for the operation of athletic events, such as ticket sellers, police officers, game officials, etc.
- Maintain accurate records and scores of all athletic programs
- Plan, organize, and supervise all athletic awards programs
- Represent OMA athletics and other events
Other
- Perform other related duties as assigned by Head of School
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION:
- Post-graduate coursework in administration, athletics, or related field
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree plus 3-5 years of school administration/leadership experience
- Valid Georgia teaching certificate with physical endorsement preferred
- CDL Certification
EXPERIENCE:
- Must have 5+ years experience teaching, coaching, and supervisory experience in a school
- Must have demonstrated experience in program planning, budgeting, and implementation
- Must have extensive knowledge of the principals, practices, rules, and procedures of organized competitive sports and athletic and recreational activity programs
- Must have thorough knowledge of state and local policies governing athletics
SKILLS:
- Must have effective leadership/coaching techniques/skills
- Must have superior organizational and planning skills
- Must be able to maintain cooperative, positive working relationships with staff, students, parents, various vendors, other personnel involved in school athletics, and the general public
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Must be able to perform CPR and administer general first aid

- Must be able to exercise independent judgment and fairness in the application of program and game rules and procedures
WORKING CONDITIONS:
