Role Objective
The IT Associate Director will be responsible for leading the strategic planning, development, implementation, and maintenance of SMC’s technology infrastructure and digital ecosystem. This role requires a visionary leader who can align IT strategies with ambitious business objectives, oversee complex event-tech operations for world-class motorsports events, and ensure robust cybersecurity, cloud management, and enterprise system integrity.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic IT Leadership
- Develop and execute a comprehensive IT roadmap aligned with SMC’s business goals and national digital transformation initiatives (Vision 2030).
- Oversee the corporate IT budget, ensuring optimal resource allocation, cost efficiency, and maximum ROI on technology investments.
- Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing IT team, fostering a culture of innovation, agility, and continuous improvement.
Infrastructure & Event Technology
- Direct the design, deployment, and management of robust corporate infrastructure, cloud environments, and enterprise applications (ERP, CRM, HRIS).
- Collaborate with event production teams to design and deliver cutting-edge technology solutions required for international motorsport events (e.g., high-speed connectivity, broadcast integration, timing systems infrastructure).
- Manage vendor and partner relationships, ensuring strict adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and procurement standards.
Governance, Cybersecurity & Risk
- Establish and enforce rigorous cybersecurity policies, frameworks, and disaster recovery plans to safeguard corporate and event data.
- Ensure full compliance with national data privacy regulations (NCA standards) and international IT best practices.
- Conduct regular IT audits and risk assessments to proactively address system vulnerabilities.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Certifications: Advanced professional certifications (e.g., ITIL, PMP, CISM, CISSP, TOGAF) are highly desirable.
- Experience: 8–10+ years of progressive experience in IT management, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role. Experience managing technology for large-scale events, sports entertainment, or mega-projects in Saudi Arabia is highly preferred.
- Technical Expertise: Proven track record in managing cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure), enterprise ERP systems, and modern cybersecurity architectures.
- Leadership & Communication: Strong executive presence with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Native or professional fluency in English and Arabic is essential.
