The Department of Athletics at Jackson State University is accepting applications for its Associate Athletic Director for Compliance and Academics position.
Examples of Duties
Specific duties and responsibilities associated with this position shall include, but are not limited to:
Serves as a member of the Division of Athletics senior leadership team as well as a sports supervisor for assigned sports within the department.
Supervise, train, and provide support to all Academics and Compliance staff employees.
Interview and train employees on performance and address any issues or problems within the department.
Complete and submit various annual reports to the NCAA and the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC), such as Academic Progress Rate (APR),
Graduation Success Rate (GSR), Sport Sponsorship Report, and Revenue Distribution Report.
Ensure that the Assistant Athletics Director for Academics executes strategies to strengthen the academic support for student-athletes, such as counseling, advising, requesting tutors, class scheduling, major selection, progress toward the degree, and NCAA eligibility degree progression.
Serve as the department’s liaison to Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar Office, Student Affairs, the Bursar Office, and the Title IX Office.
Ensure athletics scholarships and financial aid are awarded properly within the rules of the conference and the NCAA.
Serve as liaison to the Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR).
Provide educational sessions to the University’s student-athletes, coaches, and administration in regard to NIL.
Conduct investigations and self-report any suspected instances of rules violations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Typical Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree is required. Master’s degree preferred.
Must have at least five (5) years of relevant experience on the NCAA Div. I collegiate level.
Experience with academic advising and compliance responsibilities is required.
Must possess knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
