Position Summary
Assist the Head Track Coach with all aspects of the track and field program, including coaching athletes, recruiting prospective student‑athletes, meet management, and roster management and eligibility establishment. The assistant coach will be assigned an event group by the Head Track Coach and be responsible for all aspects of teaching and training that group, as well as recruiting duties as assigned.
They manage their events during meets and perform other duties as assigned, and also assist in roster management and help athletes establish eligibility.
Minimum
Required Qualifications
Requires an associate’s degree plus one (1) year of experience playing or coaching at the collegiate level. Experience must demonstrate:
- Effective leadership of the team and the program
- Effective recruitment and retention of student‑athletes
- Excellent knowledge of the sport
- Outstanding ability to teach the sport and adapt coaching methods to athletes
- Strong organizational skills for planning and scheduling training sessions and competitions
- Ability to represent Doane University positively and effectively
Required Licenses/Certifications
Valid driver’s license and a driving record acceptable to the college’s automobile insurance provider.
Physical/Environmental/Working Conditions
Irregular hours, evenings, weekends, and frequent travel to attend meets.
