Position: Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach (Wage)
Position Summary
The University of Virginia, a highly competitive Division I program, invites applications for the Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach (wage). The role supports the Olympic Sports program by assisting the Associate Athletics Director for Strength and Conditioning in the strength training and conditioning of student‑athletes, as well as the upkeep of the weight room.
Responsibilities
The assistant coach assists in the daily implementation of training programs designed by the strength staff, sets up and breaks down workouts for student‑athletes, cleans and maintains equipment and weight‑room areas, and works closely with the strength staff to provide quality coaching support.
Compensation
This is a wage position, not eligible for leave or other benefits, limited to 1,500 hours of work per year. The anticipated compensation is $27,000 for the period from Aug. 3, 2026 to July 2, 2027. Further information about wage employment can be found at (Use the “Apply for this Job” box below)..
Minimum Requirements
- Education:
A bachelor’s degree is required prior to the official start date.
- Experience:
Experience in a weight‑room setting.
- Licensure:
Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) from the NSCA or Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) from CSCCa.
Physical Demands
Work is performed while providing strength and conditioning coaching to student‑athletes in a fitness facility, on sports fields, and in sports stadiums.
