Assistant Girls Golf Coach Jobs in San Juan Capistrano at St. Margaret’s Episcopal School
The Assistant Girls Golf Coach is responsible for supporting the development of student-athletes in the girls golf program. Rooted in St. Margaret’s mission and core values, this position emphasizes competitive excellence, character development, sportsmanship, integrity, and mentorship. The Assistant Coach works collaboratively with the Head Coach and Athletics Department to facilitate practices, competitions, and overall program development.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Coaching and Instruction
- Teach golf fundamentals including proper swing mechanics, short game techniques, course management, rules, etiquette, and sportsmanship.
- Assist in planning and conducting structured practices that promote skill development, strategic decisionmaking, and individual improvement.
- Provide individualized feedback and instruction to support athlete growth and performance development.
- Demonstrate proper technique and training progressions based on age and ability level.
- Support tactical preparation including match play strategy, partner dynamics, and situational awareness.
Program Support
- Collaborate with the Head Girls Golf Coach to implement seasonal goals, practice plans, and player development strategies.
- Support matchday responsibilities including athlete supervision, scorekeeping, lineup preparation, and coordination of team logistics.
- Assist in maintaining equipment, organizing drills, and promoting a positive training culture.
- Help track athlete attendance, participation, and performance.
Student-Athlete Development
- Serve as a mentor and role model, promoting sportsmanship and academic balance.
- Prioritize student safety and wellbeing through close collaboration with the Athletic Trainer.
- Foster an inclusive, supportive, and competitive team culture aligned with the school’s core values: Character, Community, Balance and Breadth, and High Expectations.
- Encourage leadership, resilience, and personal responsibility among studentathletes.
Communication and Professionalism
- Maintain regular communication with coaching staff, athletes, and families.
- Represent St. Margaret’s Episcopal School with integrity and professionalism in all interactions.
- Comply with school, league, and CIF policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
- Minimum of two years of relevant coaching experience.
- Ability to instruct, motivate, and supervise studentathletes in a professional and supportive manner.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative, studentcentered mindset.
Preferred
- Varsitylevel coaching experience.
- College playing or coaching experience.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
- Hourly Range: $21.00 $27.00, commensurate with experience
- Paid Time Off: Sick pay
- Additional: Wee Tartan Childcare Center (upon availability)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENT:
This position involves frequent standing, running, jumping, bending, lifting, and verbal demonstration of physical movements. The coach must have the ability to move safely and quickly across athletic facilities, carry equipment weighing up to 50lbs, and respond effectively to emergency situations. Work takes place in a range of indoor and outdoor environments and may require prolonged exposure to weather conditions.
