Duties & Responsibilities
- Organize and carry out an athletic program that will promote team and school pride
- Accept responsibility for the welfare of the students under your supervision
- Attempt to integrate the athletic program with the total school program
- Promote positive public relations regarding the school’s athletic program
- Abide by the league, county, state, and federal rules and regulations
- Accept responsibility for the behavior and welfare of your team before and after practice or a contest
- Work in conjunction and coordination with athletic programs at other school levels
- Maintain retention and care of equipment
- Provide leadership and support in your area of responsibility
- Maintain professional work habits
- Help maintain professional behavior of all assistant coaches
- Maintain and upgrade your professional skills
- Perform all other duties as assigned by the principal or athletic director
Qualifications
A coach must be certified as a teacher (or substitute) in the State of WV or complete the National Federal Interscholastic Coaches Education Program as endorsed by the WVSSAC and the State Board of Education, and receive a coaching authorization issued by the WV Department of Education. Must also have or be willing to obtain current CPR/AED certification. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Applicants must be fully credentialed professionals or substitutes or hold a valid WVDE coaching certification before participating in any coaching duties.
Salary
Salary to be determined by salary classification level, experience, and education according to schedule.
