SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the head coach, organizes and administers all matters related to Track and Field and enforces all rules and regulations of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJACC), Cuyahoga Community College (Tri‑C), and the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC). Provides instruction in fundamentals, strategy, and physical training to achieve individual and team success and enforces regulations concerning conditioning, training and player safety.
ESSENTIAL
FUNCTIONS
- Assists the head coach with all practice sessions and games
- Ensures compliance with NJCAA, OCCAC, and Tri‑C rules and regulations
- Attends staff meetings when called by the head coach or Executive Director, Athletics, Wellness & Recreation
- Provides emergency first aid and medical care in absence of the trainer
- Enforces rules and regulations concerning conditioning of players and training rules affecting health and safety
- Assists with the recruitment of student‑athletes and scouting opponents
- Assists with establishing and enforcing team rules
- Assists with conducting clinics, practices, and tournaments
- Carries out other duties as assigned by the Head Coach and the Executive Director, Athletics, Wellness & Recreation
- Performs other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience /Training
- High School diploma or GED
- Minimum one year of experience coaching track and field and recruiting student athletes
- Current or renewable Cardio‑pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification
- Current or renewable First Aid or Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) Certification
- Commitment to student success

- Experience requiring diverse problem‑solving methods in a variety of situations
Knowledge,
Skills and Abilities
- Basic knowledge of fundamental track and field coaching concepts, practices and procedures and ability to apply them in varied situations
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills
- Basic‑level skills with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
- Sensitivity to respond appropriately to the needs of a diverse population

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience /Training
- Track and Field coaching experience at the high school or college level
- Experience/expertise working with students with learning disabilities or special education
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORKING CONDITIONS
- Work is performed in a normal, professional office environment
- Work area is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated
- Employee may sit comfortably and perform repetitive computer tasks; walking, standing, bending, carrying light items common; may walk and stand during travel to meetings and conferences
