Assistant Buyer Jobs in Westfield, MA at Camfour, Inc.

Camfour Inc., a privately held distributor in the shooting sports industry, is seeking a driven and analytically minded Assistant Buyer to support our procurement team. This role is designed for someone looking to make a huge impact at an industry leader.

This position plays a key role in managing product data, supporting vendor relationships, identifying inventory opportunities, and driving profitability. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working cross-functionally in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Key Responsibilities

Buying & Product Management

· Maintain accurate and complete product data across internal systems

· Ensure correct setup of new items in NetSuite, including UPCs, costs, descriptions, and key attributes

· Analyze data to identify trends, opportunities, and risks

· Support pricing decisions, including cost analysis and margin optimization

· Identify inventory needs based on demand, seasonality, and sales trends

· Assist in managing product lifecycle, including new item setup and discontinuations

· Monitor product performance, turns, and profitability

· Proactively monitor key items to identify and prevent potential stock shortages

Vendor Management

· Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and manufacturers

· Represent Camfour professionally in all external communications

· Ensure vendors adhere to Camfour receiving policies, including labeling, packaging, and shipment accuracy

· Partner with vendors to resolve receiving discrepancies and prevent recurring issues

· Support vendor negotiations, including cost, terms, and promotions

· Stay current on vendor programs, product launches, and industry trends

Sales & Marketing Collaboration

· Partner with the sales team to develop promotions and value-added opportunities

· Align product strategies with sales initiatives and customer demand

· Support execution of vendor promotions and buying opportunities

· Provide product insights to support sales growth and customer satisfaction

Operations & Inventory Optimization

· Help maximize inventory turns while maintaining in-stock positions

· Support forecasting and replenishment decisions

· Identify overstock, slow-moving, and high-opportunity inventory

· Actively monitor inventory levels on key SKUs and take action to mitigate stockouts

· Contribute to continuous improvement in buying processes and systems

Qualifications

· 1–3 years of experience in purchasing, buying, or a related field

· Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related field preferred

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

· Ability to work independently and manage priorities under tight deadlines

· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with NetSuite or similar ERP systems preferred

· Strong communication and relationship-building skills

· Positive, team-oriented mindset with a proactive approach to change

· Willingness to travel

Preferred Skills

· Knowledge of ERP systems (NetSuite strongly preferred)

· Firearms industry strongly preferred

· Advanced Excel skills (nested formulas, pivot tables,)

· Experience with demand planning or inventory forecasting

· Familiarity with pricing strategy

· Exposure to vendor negotiations or contract management

· Strong attention to detail with a high level of data accuracy

· Ability to translate data insights into actionable business decisions

· Experience working cross-functionally with sales, marketing, and operations teams
