Job Summary
Responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Kamehameha Schools campus aquatic center, including planning, developing, implementing and supervising the Aquatic Program. Ensures safety and health requirements are met for all aquatic activities.

Essential Responsibilities
- Assist athletic program in coordinating aquatic sports (swimming, diving, water polo) and develop action plans for all competition levels K‑12 and potential club/off‑season programs.
- Develop and oversee the aquatic program budget; recommend purchasing of equipment, materials, and supplies.
Aquatics Operations
- Schedule daily pool operation and coordinate with all school levels, athletics, and outside entities.
- Monitor pool patrons for adherence to safety and sanitary rules; enforce safety regulations and establish controls to prevent/reduce accidents.
- Hire, schedule and supervise lifeguards and swimming instructors (full, part, on‑call).
- Plan, develop, implement and supervise the Aquatic Program and water‑safety lifeguard personnel; collaborate with PE teachers, curriculum coordinators and administrators on K‑12 swim programs and off‑campus water‑related activities.
- Certify or arrange certification courses for staff as needed.
- Teach swim classes and lifeguard duties.
- Oversee all campus and KS programs’ off‑campus water‑related activities: scheduling, lifeguard assignment, safety training, staff education, and compliance with state and county agencies.
- Maintain pool cleanliness (deck, restroom, lockers, mechanical rooms, bleachers) and pool chemistry; record water conditions and equipment status.
- Manage preventative maintenance schedule.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years of directly related work experience (pool manager, lifeguard supervisor, or equivalent). Educational and experience substitution possible.
- Current First Aid/CPR Certification.
- Lifeguard/WSI Certification.
- Certified Pool Operator Certificate or ability to obtain within first year.
- Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Experience with maintenance and upkeep of a pool facility.
- Ability to work independently, make sound decisions and manage flexible schedules (evenings, weekends, split shifts).
- Physical: ability to lift up to 10 pounds; occasional standing, walking, writing; basic light tasks.
Physical & Working Conditions
Position may involve traveling to various locations, including neighboring islands. Work occurs in office/school environment and non‑standard workplaces. Typical Monday‑Friday business hours, but evening and weekend hours often required.
